Eric,is it me or do I detect alot of anti-catholic sentiment in your work.Myself and even my colleagues admit that without the catholics, the united states would not be the superpower that it is today.Even the U.S. military is predominately catholic, and the supreme court is run by catholics.Eric,I have been following you for a few years and I still will follow you but I would like to hear your opinion on this if possible, yours in christ,al.
Thank you for your comment. However, I have no contact with Eric Svendsen and am unable to forward your comment to him. Nor does he write or read (that I know of) this blog.
What you mean by Svendsen’s work (everything he’s ever written or just the debate)? Nevertheless, I would begin by asking you to define, “anti-catholic sentiment.” You imply “anti-catholic sentiment” is a bad thing. Sinners might err in combining the issue with the attitude but I would argue that an anti-catholic position and hatred for catholics are separate. The confused combining of the two is similar to anti-homosexuality being equivocated as hatred for homosexuals.
I don’t doubt that Eric Svendsen would be against Sola Ecclesia but your comment seems to imply that such a position against the Catholic church is inherently wrong. How do you know its wrong?
Good reply. As James White encounters regularly, this sad, deceitful immature whining result of Biblical illiteracy is possessed of a typically postmodern rejection of absolute truth that is devoid of substance but long on groundless emotions, not that too many Reformed lack the adult and mature dealings with said “affections” that the great Puritans like John Owen and Jonathan Edwards exemplified (see their works at http://www.ccel.org). John Piper and http://www.desiringGod.org are heirs to that robust God-centered theological tradition. I was sad to notice your link to the “Discovery Institute” that ultimately rejects ultimate Biblical authority for the modern worldly antiBiblical rebellion of the bogus and stupid irrational fraud of “intelligent desitn” (paralleled by the equally bogus fraud of Reason’s to Believe’s “progressive creation”). Whenver possible I name impersonal organizations rather than individuals to at least try to avoid ad hominems. For the sole Biblical view unanimously held by Israel and the Church for nearly six millennia until the Darwinian captivity of the Church that is still continuing, see http://www.answersinGenesis.org and http://www.trueorigin.org. I also have the book “Holding Fast to Creation” by David Hall that exposes the fraud and how it’s corrupted most of so-called “reformed theology” since the days of regrettably racist evolutionist B. B. Warfield who professed inerrancy but so compromised it with his evolutionary dogma as to be a rank hypocrite as are most falsely-so-called “inerrantists” today who irrationally reject Genesis for the “assured results” of modern pseudo-science with no factual basis for it, as AnswersinGenesis.org proves, sadly rejecting the ever-Perfect (not just “inerrant” that thereby with Warfield stupidly discards at least Genesis 1-11 and Mark 10:6) Word of God and its true absolute authority for the ever-erring fatuous word of man and its insane vacuity. Exposing another fraud, there’s also such a thing as ‘homosex-” exposed by “The ‘gay’ invention” at

How foolish we are so that all it takes for us to fall for something is to hear it repeated. Also see http://www.DrJudithReisman.org. God bless you, Russ
PS
All one has to do to show the stupid lunacy of billions of years is to do the math for the body count. Even if earth were only one million years old the earth would be covered with bodies, one of countless answers Answers in Genesis.org provides for the few who take God’s Word seriously today, including most evan-jelly-cals, even clergy and college/seminary professors, most of whom have fallen down Warfield’s tragic hole, being so incredibly stupid as to imagine that the stupid modern antitheist bigotry (see Errant Skeptics Research Institute http://65.108.250.230/The_Meaning_of_Atheism.htm) of the current pseudo-science religion has any credibility.
