SlimJim- thanks for all your fine work – please keep it coming. I especially liked: Torres’ fine outline. This post is very helpful in explaining the use of terms – which can be a large part of the battle in discussing such to non-presuppers and unbelievers.
I’ve enjoyed Torres’ post and Chris Bolt’s post this time around. Keep up the good work yourself Mike, with all those good apologetics books, e-books and articles!
Thank guys for your support and encouragement. Have you had the opportunity to skim my 3 part intro to CVT’s thought?
I’ve just scanned them right now. By the way Joseph, I appreciate your thoughts on Perspectivalism and Presuppositionalism. I’ve been surprised that Perspectivalism has not been as much stressed in Van Tillian circles. I love Frame’s observation of various triades. In my own curriculum to college students in secular campuses on Presuppositional apologetics, I’ve tried to emphasize that Christians look for the triade relationship of epistemology with metaphysics and ethics and see the coherence of that in the Christian worldview and keeping an eye for the incoherence of these three aspects in an unbelieving worldview. I find it helpful in defining a Christian worldview in a way that’s practical and a helpful rubric using the triade of Epistemology-Metaphysics-Ethics.
By the way, are you still teaching at NYAC?
I left Nyack when I moved down to Orlando. I’ve been with Belhaven University since 2010.
I agree that Frame’s perspectivalism is an incredibly helpful tool in developing both a well thought-out and comprehensive Christian worldview. In Speaking the Truth in Love: The Theology of John M. Frame, chapter 5 (“Perspectives on Multiperspectivalism”) I aimed at doing just that. First I explained and defended Frame’s model. In the second half of the article I applied his triperspectival epistemology to postmodernism in the form of Derrida and Foucault.
I’ve provided a summary of the chapter here: wp.me/p30a1-f0
Wow, I forgot you contributed to Speaking the Truth in Love. I am far from being done with that work. I plan to post more links to your materials in the future. Once again thank you for the work you are doing.
