Illogical.  Some small little church rumored to have burned Quran.  Then Muslims in Afghanistan protest against this by taking it on…people working for the UN who are there to help Afghanistan? Ridiculous.

This is to be condemened.  It’s time Islam get held accountable.

According to Fox News,

Thousands of protesters angry over the purported burning of a Koran by a Florida pastor stormed a United Nations compound Friday in northern Afghanistan, killing at least 12 people, including eight foreigners.

Two of the foreigners were beheaded, Reuters reported. There were unconfirmed reports that the death toll was as high as 20.

The demonstration in Mazar-i-Sharif turned violent when some protesters grabbed weapons from the UN guards and opened fire, then mobbed buildings and set fires on the compound, officials said. Demonstrators also massed in Kabul and the western city of Herat.

CNN’s account is mild but but they have this interesting detail:

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the victims were only trying to help the Afghan people.

BBC’s account:

Witnesses said a crowd of several hundred staged a protest outside the Blue Mosque in the city after Friday prayers.

The crowds moved to outside the UN compound, where a small group broke away.

Munir Ahmad Farhad, a spokesman for Balkh province, said the group seized weapons from the guards and opened fire before storming the building.
