A Yahoo News Article was recently titled “Pope says weapons manufacturers can’t call themselves Christian.” Here’s an excerpt of what the news article says:
People who manufacture weapons or invest in weapons industries are hypocrites if they call themselves Christian, Pope Francis said on Sunday.
Francis issued his toughest condemnation to date of the weapons industry at a rally of thousands of young people at the end of the first day of his trip to the Italian city of Turin.
“If you trust only men you have lost,” he told the young people in a long, rambling talk about war, trust and politics after putting aside his prepared address.
“It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit a distrust, doesn’t it?” he said to applause.
He also criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying “duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.”
Is it just me but this is part of a continuing pattern by the current Roman Catholic Pope espousing a rather one sided simplistic “It’s all about love” kind of religion that tries to score with the Secular press and media when he says things that matches up more with a Leftist agenda?
So the Pope thinks those who are involved with the manufacturing of weapons are hypocrites folks who trust in man instead of God and involved with spreading distrusts that don’t live out the Christian faith.
I just think it is rather ironic that this is spoken by a man who has both a Body Guard unit and the traditional Swiss Guard unit guarding him with weapons. These units are involved with enabling the very wicked industry he condemns. What a Papists/Swiss Guard/Industrial Complex.

Thanks Vincent for sharing this on your blog brother Vince!
My pleasure Pastor Jim my Brother in the Lord 🙂
What is more revealing is that he believes our salvation is based upon our profession, i.e., the job we do instead of faith in Christ. Glad it is becoming so clear.
Ha, good point. I catch your drift, here’s a clear sign he has misplaced works.
Didn’t Oliver Cromwell say ‘Keep your powder dry and Trust in the Lord’. Maybe it was his snuff powder he needed to keep dry and not his gunpowder.
Wow that would be appropriate! Mike you really know your English Reformation.
Thanks for posting the news article. Certainly, there are MANY times (I believe the vast majority of times) when war is Scripturally unjustifiable. But I also believe there are cases throughout history where war was an absolute necessity to impede the wickedness that takes place in this world and properly fulfill the Godly responibilities given to man.
For the pope to, seemingly, lump every war together as sinful acts is bein naieve and not understanding the Biblical principle of justified warfare (based upon Godly, unselfish motives).
Lord bless you!
Exactly. You said it better than I did.
I don’t think it’s just you. I hear the same “It’s all about love” coming out of even stranger places, like Sandy Hook, and most recently Charleston.
The more he speaks, the more I think he’s going to make problems for current and future Papists. Which isn’t necessarily all a bad thing, I just hope people consider more Sola Scriptura and the other Solas!
In Luke 22:36 Jesus told his disciples to buy swords. Someone had to make those swords. If they were sinning when they did so then Jesus was telling his disciples to encourage sinners by buying their products.
Exactly! I wonder if this pope ever read Luke 22:36; Then again, his over-emphasis of love makes me wonder if he’s read those passages in the Bible that mentioned God’s Wrath. Then again, I wonder if he’s read the Bible in any serious way at all.
This pope reminds me of an old series of movies featuring “Francis, the talking mule.”
Haha, I have to look that up
I think maybe his position and statements could be more clearly understood in the context of his ideology which is Marxism.
I agree; he’s definitely influenced by a South American form of Liberation Theology.
