Part 2


  1. Proof
    1. “Wives,be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” (Ephesians 5:22-24)
      1. Here we see the Church described side by side as an analogy with the wife.
      2. The head of the bride is Christ (23)
      3. Church is thus subject to Christ like a bride to the husband (24)
    2. For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for Ibetrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.” (2 Corinthian 11:3)
      1. Here Paul gives the imagery of the church being betrothed to Christ.
      2. This imagery is situated in a verse that Paul talks about His involvement with the sanctification of the church.
    3. Picture: If Christ is the bride, on the Lord’s Day how do we view the Savior and the Church? Are we excited?
    4. Practice
      1. If Christ loves the church with its imperfection, it should make us realize we should also love the church with its imperfection with no excuses.
