It is incredible to see the ignorance of many who called themselves Pastors and teachers of the Bible not knowing…the Bible.
Yet churches tolerate it.
“But the Pastor is so caring and relational!”
“He makes up for it by being a people person and have no time to study.”
Imagine the scenario from the following video:
We wouldn’t tolerate someone being ignorant in that situation. Staying at the Holiday Inn is unrelated to the need for knowledge and expertise in that situation.
We don’t tolerate that when it comes to the building of bridges, the field of medicine and our kids in schools.
Yet why does the Church who claim to be involved in man’s most important need (spiritual in nature) tolerate someone who is incidentally nice, funny, charismatic, etc., but lack knowledge and wisdom of the Word of God?
Heed the warning of the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 1:7 about ignorance and spiritual leaders/teachers of the church=
wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
Notice Paul is not just looking for teachers who make people have warm emotions. He’s concerned of whether or not they have understanding. Saying things in mere confidence is nothing–if it is not grounded in understanding!
It is no wonder that James 3:1 says
Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.
Pastors and Teachers, please study the Word deeply and pray for understanding!
