I read the post on mysticism and this is an area where I work hard to achieve balance. When I came to faith in Christ, I really knew nothing. It was a heart thing and an experience but that experience with Jesus gave me a hunger to know the Bible. Without the Bible, I would not have grown into my faith or developed a Biblical world view. I did go through a period of over-intellectualizing my faith and being so focused on doctrine that I wasn’t living it out the way I should have been. I do rely on the Holy Spirit but I measure my experience of God by the scriptures to make sure I’m not being led astray by another spirit.
