Is there such a thing as a Christian gay?
Is it like saying, “a dog cat?” Is it a dog or a cat? Does the dog looks like a cat? It must be a play of words to communicate something that is not literal, right? Unless you do a revision of the definition of dog and cat.
I am encouraged that at least in one place a rational exchange on this topic was organized and presented.
First and foremost we must use the proper grammar about the word “gay”. Gay is now being used as a noun; a word (other than a pronoun) used to identify any of a class of people, places, or things common noun, or to name a particular one of these proper noun. The word gay is NOT a noun, it is a behavior and the bible is very clear about such behavior. It is a sin. (Leviticus 18:22) (Leviticus 20:13) Yep. We’ve all heard that Leviticus is where the Bible straight-up says that homosexual behavior is an abomination. Some might say that we have a new grace from Christ therefore you must look to the new testament. Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I appreciate the civility between the two. The truth came out when the one gentleman stated in rebuttal that we are to judge not only by the Bible but by community…that we are not to make the Bible an idol. He kept going back to the love of Christ. Yes, Jesus loves all. For all He died. But, to say His love is His acceptance of our sins is to pervert grace.
