So many free books online these days, Christians have no excuse not to read and grow! Here’s another one that was made available free yesterday!
New Testament scholar (among other things!) Vern Poythress has published a book earlier this year titled “Reading the Word of God in the Presence of God.” It’s subtitle is “A Handbook for Biblical Interpretation.”
Here’s the book’s description:
Every time we read the Bible, we’re reading in the presence of God. How should this incredible truth shape how we read? Moving quickly from principle to practice, Vern Poythress helps us rethink how we interpret the Bible by showing us the implications of entering into God’s presence as we study. This handbook outlines distinct steps for practicing faithful biblical interpretation by focusing on our fellowship with the God who speaks to us through his Word.

Thanks Vincent for reblogging this free book by Vern Poythress!
You’re very welcome Brother Jim, downloaded it as well 😎
Thanks, Jim. So much to read, so little time.
“So much to read, so little time.” That’s exactly how I feel! I just downloaded it and hope I get to it among many other books…sometimes I wonder how much we can read in heaven!
I like the idea that we don’t read the scriptures alone. It agrees with my own perception of my experience.
We definitely need the Lord’s help when we read the Word…
