Ten years ago today on September 22nd, 2006 three men got together and decided to form a blog that would defend and proclaim the faith in addition to providing good Christian resources in the area of theology, apologetics, the Bible and Christian worldview.
A lot has happened in those ten years.
In terms of statistics we hit a milestone of over a million views this year. Somehow the last ten years we put out 2,744 Posts covering 1,939 Categories and 1,113 Tags. But the statistics doesn’t tell us the whole story of what I praise God for.
Through the blog I think I grew. I got to work on thinking more biblically, logically and clearly. Hopefully I learned to have less grammatical errors than when I first began although I confess this is my weakness.
I think I also grew in my apologetics in part through this blog. Especially in the first few years when it felt like it was a wild west shootout on here with debates and exchange of comments. I think it mellowed out the second half of our blogging. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I appreciated the fellowship I had with all of you on here over the years. I appreciated the fellowship of my fellow blogging members of Veritas Domain. I appreciated the guest contributors’ posts. And I appreciated the interactions of all of you on the comment section and throughout WordPress! Then some of you I met in person! I appreciated growing in the truth and also being corrected when I was wrong.
I try not to post personal stuff online here (I think I’m still pseudo-semi-anonymous for the sake of ministry overseas) but there’s been a time not too long ago when my ministry reached its hardest moment and brothers and sisters prayed for me from learning about it through the blog. I am forever grateful.
I also look back at how God has worked in the last ten years outside of the blog. When we began the blog in 2006 I was still in the Marines. Of course in those 10 years I went to college, seminary then got married, entered the ministry and had kids. Blogging was just part of that 10 years. I am thankful for God’s faithfulness. I’m thankful to God for what God is doing through my fellow bloggers as well outside of the internet and social media some of which made them more busy in the Lord’s work and made them unavailable to blog as much.
I pray that God would have used this blog to encourage and edify believers. I pray that God would use this blog to reach the lost. I pray that the resources we post would reach those who need it.
Lord willing we have more years on here on WordPress!
