how-does-the-biblical-doctrines-of-demonology-helpus-us-have-a-more-godly-marriage

Establish the need: Why should we care about what the Bible say about demons in regards to marriages? When we know someone is out to destroy our marriage we would be very proactive to defend it; but did you know there are supernatural beings out to destroy your marriage?  Specifically they are led by the devil so the devil will be our focus for our present study.

Purpose: In this series we will explore how theology shapes marriage and here in our fifth session we shall consider the Bible’s teaching on the devil and how to resist Him in order to protect our marriage.

Had a long day with ministry today and came home not too long ago.  I have a post that’s half-baked but it’s getting late and I just saw this new video which I had to share…

Last week Christian apologist Sye Ten Bruggencate had a debate on whether God exists.  Here’s the debate:

This debate took place at Crossroad Church in Georgetown, Indiana on September 29th, 2016.

Enjoy!

Rice Broocks. God’s Not Dead: Evidence for God in an Age of Uncertainty.  Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishing Company, March 11th, 2013.  304 pp.

4 out of 5

I read this book as a sort of review of Christian evidential apologetics’ and as an attempt to keep abreast with the typical works out there.  While my apologetics methodology is different than that of the author I did appreciate this book and attempted to read this book graciously.  I must say I did appreciate this book.

hillary-protecting-all-of-god-children-is-americas-callingSometimes you got to wonder about the ironies of the left-wing Huffington Post with their Religion section.  Coming from people who decry “Separation of Church and State” when it comes to those they disagree with both theologically and politically, they have no problem having their top news story in their religion section being “Protecting All Of God’s Children Is America’s Calling’” which essentially is the unblinking Huff Po writer gushing at Hillary speaking at a church service in North Carolina in an effort to win that state.

But that’s not the biggest irony.  The biggest irony comes from Hillary Clinton herself.

The Huff Po piece gives us a glimpse of her message:

the-difficult-doctrine-of-gods-love

Don A. Carson. The Difficult Doctrine of God’s Love.  Wheaton, IL: Crossway, December 10th, 1999.  93 pp.

5 out of 5

This book is by New Testament scholar Don Carson who wrote this book that is accessible for a popular audience.  Carson tackles on the doctrine of God’s love which he noted that this is not an easy doctrine.  The book has four chapters and I found that I learned a few things and the book also helped organized my thoughts better concerning God’s love.  In my review below I will focus more on the first two chapters.

Some Jory Micah has posted this on her Social media (Twitter, Facebook):

Her theology is *tweeked.*  There’s a word study fallacy being committed here.

GO TO PART 36

love-figure-of-speech

Point: Sometimes what is found in the skeptics’ list of Bible contradictions are not contradictions but are what appears to be contradictions because the skeptic hasn’t account for the Bible’s use of figure of speech.  Of course to bring this point up the skeptics might respond by saying this is a cop-out.  But are there are figures of speech we use that appear to be contradictory on the surface level but really they are not?

In my opinion Greg Bahnsen was one of the best debater among the school of Presuppositional apologetics  He is still one of my favorite popularizer of the apologetics’ methodology of his mentor Cornelius Van Til.  There’s a two page PDF titled “Summary of Presuppositional Apologetic Method by Greg Bahnsen” available here.  Someone has put these words with some music as background as a short three part video series which we feature below:

If you want to learn more of Bahnsen and Presuppositional apologetics check out our posts Free Greg Bahnsen Apologetics Course from Gospel Coalition and Greg Bahnsen vs Gordon Stein Mp3.

I plan the next few weeks to look at some practical counseling booklets and post my reviews of them on here.

This is a counseling booklet that’s part of the series published by Presbyterian and Reformed called “Resources for Changing Lives.”  I thought this work is a great resource for Pastors to assign as a reading assignment for someone they are counseling on the topic of stress.  I read through this short work for my own edification and also alongside another brother at church.

how-do-you-combat-the-love-of-money

Last Sunday I posted “How do you tell if you are a lover of money?”  But I don’t want to just end with people feeling guilty and just be left there.  Today’s post I want to answer the question: “How do you combat the love of money?”

This is the first of two parts.  For today’s post we will focus more on means that are helpful in “putting off” the love of money.  Part two will then look at what we “put on” instead in place of the love of money.

“Put off” the love of money by these means (Acronym: MARK):

This is a review of two volumes of a Comic hero as a break from serious and deep reading.

green-hornet-year-one-vol-1

Matt Wagner.  Green Hornet: Year One Vol 1: The Sting of Justice.  Runnemede, NJ: Dynamite Entertainment, November 16th, 2010.  140 pp.

This is the first comic book I read on the character “Green Hornet” and it has left me hooked!  This tells the story of the origin of the Green Hornet and his sidekick Kato.  Set in the early 1920s and 1930s the illustration and the colors definitely enhanced the experience of reading this work.  But it was the story telling that I most appreciate from the book.
