As a Christian I do enjoy flying and the opportunity to share the Gospel (Jesus dying on the cross to save us sinners) with those next to me. Now of course this must be done in a manner that is Godly and respectful. It’s also a joy to talk to different people and walks of life. Up to this point all my conversations have been cordial.
Apparently Christians aren’t the only ones who want to share their worldview.
This past weekend a lady and her husband was kicked off their flight because the wife was berating a Trump supporter flying home after the inauguration.
Let’s just say she did not talk to the Trump supporter in a Godly manner.
Here’s my two cent. I realize my tone is stronger than usual but I think it captures just how dangerous some on the Left have become in their intolerance.
Sometimes I think some (not all) on the Left are religious zealots. Now when I say religious I’m not saying they are Christians. They might even be Secular Humanists. But the two are not mutually exclusive if we understand religious to be used in the sense that they have a heavily ideological driven commitment driven by their worldview.
Some have a mean Pharisee streak like this lady. If you watched the video early in the beginning you see how self-righteous she was to have the audacity to ask the attendant to move the young man after the young man notified the fight attendant. Its the manner she asked that presume there’s nothing wrong in asking a flight attendant to remove someone next to her just because he doesn’t have the same political outlook as she does. She even says “you’re in my space,” and apparently that space is him sitting on his seat that he paid for. But it don’t matter because he’s ceremonially unclean by Leftist standard and he’s the proverbial Philistine.
Look at this video from another angle:
The way she says “have some respect” mimicks the old grandmas that’s a part of the legalistic gossip squad found in any sterotypical cultural fundamentalist church complete with the daunting eyes. The only thing missing is she’s not wearing hats. “Have some respect,” she said, with those very words dripping with irony. The whole self-righteous demeanor, blinded at the hypocrisy in which she can’t show respect for someone else who disagree. The sudden guilt trip and appeal to pity to the flight attendants in order to not kicked out is so narcissistic because the problem is with everyone else, not her. No repentance, no apologies, full of shameless defiance that outdo any two year old I know.
Again this is not all Leftists. But you certainly do have some that are clearly religious not only in the sense that they are legalistic Pharisees but they are also apocalyptic in their outlook. They are bent to proselytize to the point that they are blinded to basic decency in civil discourse. She rants about nuclear bomb and climate change, the eschatology of the Left Wing. For her Trump is the anti-Hillary, who will bring about four to eight years of the Great Tribulation. I suppose it gives a whole new meaning to “LEFT BEHIND.” Left behind that is, at the airport.
Hi Jim, I think the left is upset because their ideology is threatened. For them this election was about social issues, the cultural war they’ve been winning while for most of the rest of us who are trying to figure out how we will feed our selves, it was about jobs, the economy, and health care. I’m thankful that my God sits above it all and when I’m faced with difficulty in the temporal world, I have His strength to help me work through it. Those of secular humanism have no hope but in human politics. We should pity them and pray for them. Their god has been toppled.
Pam!
It is good to hear from you again! How is your health doing by the way?
I think you made a good point when you said: “Those of secular humanism have no hope but in human politics. We should pity them and pray for them. Their god has been toppled.” Certainly we must pray for them, a good reminder.
I’m doing some better. The cold still gives me lots of headaches and other pains but the docs are sure I DON’T have cryo now. Weird that the cold gives me more trouble when they tell me I don’t have it that when they were telling me I did…the treatment I was receiving made my borderline diabetes explode and that was part of why I was so sick for awhile. I’m still working to get that under control. We had a mild winter up until now. I can’t wait for spring!but I’m ever joyful thanks to Jesus living in my heart. How are you and how’s your ministry?
Wow praise God to hear that you don’t have cryo. I”m sorry to hear though that the cold is making things worst than before when they said you had it. I can’t wait for spring myself since January has turned out to have been very cold in Southern California. I am glad to hear from you again Pam. Ministry is going. If God leads you, pray for the guys at our church would grow spiritually and that would flow in growing up with being responsible. We have a lot of single guys in our church. My family is doing well and I’m blessed more than I deserve with having a family to come home to.
All who are in Christ Jesus are blessed with more than we deserve. Immaturity in young adults is a huge problem in this country right now. I will pray for your young men as I know you have prayed for mine. I am hoping and praying that the church won’t be as oppressed as it has been in recent times. It has resulted in spiritual ignorance. We need a true revival and a renaissance in education. However, I am optimistic. Keep counting those blessings that none of us deserve.

Thanks Vince for the reblog, I am praying for your doctor’s appointment on Friday.
You’re very welcome Pastor Jim, thanks Brother 😊
Jim, this entire incident initially sickened me—I was incensed that here we have just one more, now viral, attack on a conservative’s choice—as in a free choice to vote his conscience in a “free” democratic society…lest we imagine had the roles been reversed and this woman was berated for her choice of Sanders or Clinton….
then I was left just sad….that we have another disheartening affront from one American to another…one that is filled with seething hate and yes, intolerance—the same battle cries “the left” (and I hate now actually using this divisive labels) hurled toward the opposite camps…
Despairingly sad yet a real snippet of what is bubbling just below the surface…
“Despairingly sad yet a real snippet of what is bubbling just below the surface…” I agree. I feel from this example and my experience on college campus doing evangelism and ministry, its getting harder and harder to dialogue with some on the Left because there’s no room for tolerance. It’s like you said, its sad to see this hatred from one American to another.
Well, its apparent that the husband is a whipped puppy dog.
LOL, Patrick you with your Southern saying. Interesting you said that though, as this tells me that I’m not the only one who was observing the husband in the video and wondering what’s going on with him.
“The way she says “have some respect” mimicks the old grandmas that’s a part of the legalistic gossip squad found in any sterotypical cultural fundamentalist church complete with the daunting eyes.”
LOL! Oh dear, how convicting. Lord, let my words always be gentle and my eyes kind, not haughty, least I ever become a gossipy old church lady. 🙂
This was a great post. I wish this woman was unusual, but that kind of tantrum is far too common these days. I’m glad they kicked her off the plane, because as a culture we need to start setting boundaries so people can be reminded there really are some expectations for polite behavior.
As I read your comment I realized even men can become the male equivalent of the legalistic squad. How much we all need God’s sanctifying grace! I’m glad they kicked her out of the plane too, because there needs to be a limit to these Leftists bullying tactics.
Well said… I get too upset even watching it to try and talk about it, but you nailed it, this is religion to them. And it will never fulfill, so it’s a never ending cycle of demand demand demand in the name of tolerance all while being some of the meanest people you’ll ever encounter.
Good point about how politics as a religion would never satisfy…how we need to repent of all our idols (functional gods) and turn to the living God. You are right sister that some people can make demands in the name of tolerance all while being the meanest people you’ll ever meet. Thanks for reading this and commenting, wondering how you found our post? Grateful for your visit!
The woman got off that plane thinking she was absolutely justified in verbally attacking the young man. Politics has become so polarized in this country the last couple of decades. It wasn’t like this when I was growing up in the 60s. Back then Republicans battled Democrats in the House and Senate during the day and then they went out to dinner together at night. There seemed to be more of a spirit of compromise back then. I know what you mean about liberals being intolerant “crusaders” but the Right also has become increasingly inflexible. I try to distance myself from politics but some days I’m better at it than others.
Thanks for the comment. I’m quite politically conservative myself, I use to blog a lot more on politics on here when we started but have done so less. Nevertheless I agree with you: “I know what you mean about liberals being intolerant “crusaders” but the Right also has become increasingly inflexible. ” I listened to the Senate session interviewing General Mattis and I felt the way a certain conservative Republican Senator talked to Mattis was disrespectful even though I agree with the Senator’s political view and concerns. Now I know that senator voted for Mattis too but I thought it was an opportunity for him to go on an ideological tangent. Struck me as not only inflexible but someone that might be hard to work with.
I should probably avoid political discussions because I’m becoming increasingly apolitical. Yup, politicians were always known for their blustering, but the decline in civility in politics is alarming. That just mirrors what’s going on in society in general.
These people are fascinating t9 say the least Jim.
I have thought about this for a while and have come to the conclusion that Satan own their souls.
A person cannot stew in anger and loathing if they are right with the God of love.
I agree with you. The amount of anger and loathing is so…venomous. It reveals their spiritual DNA of who their father is. Some people’s life verse might just be John 8:44 right?
Yes, John 8:44 is perfect here. Also, Matthew 7:20.

The real victim in this video is the husband.
I agree. Totally agree. I played the video several times and that includes looking at the husband. I could be speculating but Ithink he gets a good dose of radical anti-Trump feminism at home… probable.
Wow you’re right
Her husband looks like the kind of man who will get slapped by the wife and enjoy it. What a Chuck.
