I’m not a guy that would watch the Oscars and personally I could care less since most of Hollywood elites seems to be in la-la land. The host this year was also Jimmy Kimmel which I personally think is an example of a fool with jokes that’s not funny, cheap laughs and too frequently down right mean. But my phone last night got an usually rare news notification concerning the most awkward moment in Oscar’s history which as many of you know, was about the mistake in the announcement of who got the award of Best Picture.
Seeing this made me think about how I’m grateful that the Bible is without error or mistake. It is God’s Word and is always true. The Bible is inerrant. Good point! The world is infatuated with the world of movies and this whole Oscars process. I’m obviously not against enjoying a movie but it’s religion for many and I’m thinking of my two sons in particular. If you don’t have Christ, you must fill the vacuum with something and for many people it’s these stories which touch them in some way emotionally, only to rush after the next story, and the next, etc.
Very good point Tom. For some people movies have become itself a form of religion. They can spend hours sitting down before their idol in their living room, taking in all their time and is what they “rest” in instead of Christ.
This is good Jim, I am glad someone did a post about this that made a connection to the Bible.
I have honesty not thought much about the show or the blunder because I truly don’t care. That being said, I do think another point one could make is that, no matter how hard we try, we always fall short.
As far as Jimmy Kimmel goes, I used to think he was pretty funny until his monologues turned into mostly cheap shots at Donald Trump. I suppose he is giving his fans what they want, which is fine but I can’t help but equate this with him telling people what their itchy ears want to hear.
Thanks for filling me in concerning Kimmel since I don’t know much of his show. When I was younger I use to work as security for Jimmy Kimmel. I don’t want to go through details but I’m not a fan from certain things during that season of my life many years ago.
No need to go into details about what it was like working for the man, I think I can fill in the blanks.
Sadly, the more I learn about celebrities, the more reasons I find to dislike them.
Hate to sound judgemental there, that wasn’t my intent. I am a little jaded and cynical I guess but there isn’t much I can do about that I don’t think.
