Two double standards I want to note.
I evangelize weekly on college campuses. There’s been more than once where I had a conversation with a “Disingenuous Liberal” usually after a long conversation that makes the following assertion during different moments of the conversations:
It’s like they don’t notice the double standard. Most of the time how the second premise (“Hitler is a Christian”) get brought up in the conversation is part of a moral objection against Christianity (“Christians have done a lot of evil in history! Hitler was a Christian!”). Of course that objection in of itself is not without its problems. For instance I think those who make such a charge haven’t taken into consideration Hitler was a politician; we should study more carefully Hitler’s beliefs when he was a nobody and when he was in full power which often suggest’s Hitler’s more genuine beliefs when he was less susceptible to the need to appease people for their support. A great book that explored Hitler’s worldview is the work Hitler’s Philosophers by Yvonne Sherratt. Hitler is no Christian once one understand his worldview. Ironically when some progressives hear Christians talk about radical Islam suddenly these terrorists aren’t true Muslims because Islam is peaceful and these “jihadists” are doing things that goes against the Quran.
Related to this is another double standard with “Disingenuous Liberals:”
On the one hand people can self-identify themselves as whatever they want:
- Orientation
- Genders
- Race (You can be Black even though you are a White woman)
On the other hand terrorists can do a lot of things but they can’t self-identify themselves as Muslims. Despite what these jihadists self-identify themselves as Liberals would strongly insist that these terrorists are not true Muslims.
Amazing…
Jesuit conspiracy theorists make much of the fact that Hitler was a Catholic and even claim he was a “faithful Catholic” as an adult but there’s no evidence to support that. The erroneous claim that Heinrich Himmler was an ex-Jesuit priest is still widely circulated in those circles. Many German Protestants, sadly, and Catholics did support Hitler. Yes, it was perplexing how hard Obama worked to disassociate ISIS from Islam.
“. The erroneous claim that Heinrich Himmler was an ex-Jesuit priest is still widely circulated in those circles”–> That is another conspiracy theory I haven’t heard of before.
It was very sad to read the testimonies of the few Protestants and Catholics who did not go with the flow of the Nazis. Its incredible how many compromised and saw the minority as extremists…but to be right with God means being in trouble with men…and only when we are at God’s side can be we on the right side of history.
On another not I believe that the day there are overt persecutions of Christians the so-called “church” filled with false converts that follow some kind of Politically Correct codes will be fueling the persecutions of Bible believing Christians.
I can foresee a time when belonging to a church that preaches against homosexuality is going to invite persecution. Mainline Protestant churches in our town have rainbow signs outside with a “Welcome” on it and the same thing on their websites.

atheists have killed 100 million people in 100 years
Yep. “Hate”-ists.
atheist Communists
Hitler was a Christian in name only as it was the faith of his youth—following his service fighting in WWI and during the time of his rise to power and by the time he became Führer, Hitler had become more and more agnostic believing in the dark side of the mystical over the God of Christianity—he steeped himself in the notion of the mythological with his obsession over the origin of the German race…with a view similar to Norse Vikings and their gods just as he immersed himself in occultism….as many liken Nazism to, the occult.
He was also very keen in the “study” and development of eugenics as a means of the “scientific” human intervention in the development of creating a “super” human being—all far cries from a practicing or devout Christian—He believed that he had been predestined to be the “savior” of the true German race—
And so it appears Jim that you might just need to enlighten your young charges to their history by offering a lesson or two into who Hitler really was and what made him what he was—since they seem to be able to spout out falsehoods without really knowing the truth!
Julie,
Exactly! With all the facts it is incredible that some people would want to push an agenda so much that they ignore other data that question their pet thesis that Hitler was a Christian. Also, I am amazed at how those who claim Hitler was a Christians don’t know or acknowledge Hitler’s negative views of Christianity. And these are from people who are going to college of all things. I really do think it is no exaggeration that today many college campuses is an indoctrination center that is not producing critical and careful thinkers….sadly.
Truly- Hitler’s blatant attempt to destroy not only the Catholic Church in Germany as well as his desire to kidnap and kill Pope Pius xii are well documented–but that he ardently wanted the dominate German Lutheran church to become the national state church and the many clergy vehemently opposed to such a notion -who in turn were arrested, sent to the death camps and executed- Dietrich Bonhoeffer being one of the more well known is all well known examples- so it seems these all knowing college lemmings need to wake up in history class
That’s a really good point. Muslim terrorists aren’t even allowed to self-identify as Muslim terrorists! That’s one of the problems with identity politics,it creates cognitive dissonance and only way to rationalize it is to bend reality and discard the evidence.
I have a group of ladies who have been dedicated advocates against the sexual abuse and exploitation of children for years, but the Seattle mayor has been accused of these things since forever. The allegations have been in the press again recently, but my disingenuous ladies cannot logically accept this because the mayor is a gay man and everyone knows gay men cannot abuse children. Therefore, it simply didn’t happen.
Exactly: “That’s one of the problems with identity politics,it creates cognitive dissonance and only way to rationalize it is to bend reality and discard the evidence.”
I have never heard of the accusation against the Mayor of Seattle. Abuse against children is among the most heinous sins. Is he currently being investigated???
[…] Of course some on the Left will say that isn’t true Sharia Law, or that those who commit atrocities against the LGBT community aren’t really true Muslims such as the lone wolf who attacked the gay club “The Pulse” in Orlando exactly one year ago today. But this only compounds the Leftist’s Double Standards With Islamic Terrorism. […]
