It’s Sunday! I know teaching, preaching and ministering is not always easy. Here is another short post providing you with the motivation from the Word of God for preachers before you enter your pulpit and teachers before you go in to instruct your class.
Today’s post comes from 1 Timothy 4:14:
Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the [f]presbytery.
Here’s a question based upon the verse:
Have you been assured in God’s spiritual gift working within you?
Contextually 1 Timothy 4:14 is Paul addressing Timothy who was a younger minister. If you know you are called to the ministry, and that teaching and preaching is one of your spiritual gift, let that take a hold of your heart. Be comforted you are doing exactly what God has called you to do!
I realize sometimes “calling” can be quite subjective. Note the second of the verse that with Timothy there is an assurance of His calling in that it was recognized by others. Knowing and being affirmed that he has been gifted by the Lord to serve Him, Timothy is exhorted not to neglect his spiritual gift.
Don’t neglect what God has given and equipped you with! Go teach and preach for the glory of God and edification of the church!
