One of the news I read this morning is “Senator Al Franken Kissed and Groped Me Without My Consent, And There’s Nothing Funny About It.”
I have been seeing the last few days the Left being up in arms against Roy Moore. I saw some friends on social media rant against Republicans concerning that. But the latest news reveal its not just Republicans and we should recall that there are also Democrats as well: Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton, etc.
These days it seems like every day there’s news of someone groping someone in the past. It is hard to keep track of it. For instance I was surprised to read Tom’s blog post, “Paragons of virtue?” where I learn that George H.W. Bush also have several women come forth with accusations.
My point is not partisan politics. The point I want to make is spiritual.
- Your sins will find you out. Numbers 32:23 states, “But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.” Some of these perverts think they can get away with what they do. Maybe its their celebrity status or their position. But Scripture is clear, “be sure your sin will find you out.”
- Sin no matter how long ago it was committed is still sin. Whether the wrong was done 10 years ago or 30 years ago, sin is still sin. Sometimes people think we get a pass because it seems the sin is not brought up for years. But sin is still a sin no matter how long ago it was committed.
- The Bible’s doctrine on sin should make us realize that those whom we love and support is capable of heinous deeds. All of us are sinners (Romans 3:23). Sin is one of those things that one can’t domesticate, even if one thinks they can “manage’ their sin. Either we are feeding our sin or starving our sin. There’s no middle ground. If people’s sin nature is bad as Scripture teaches it then we should take into account that people including those we love are capable of heinous deeds.
- We must also realize people’s sinfulness can also manifest itself with false accusations. Sin doesn’t manifest itself only in one way. Some people can sin by lying about being victims. Please be careful here to note I’m not accusing anyone of lying. But we must realize that this is possible.
- Pray for the truth and for justice. It is important to pray for the truth and for justice. We pray, knowing we don’t have all the facts. Of course in talking about sin we are also sinners. We all need Christ.

Sin isn’t a Democrat or Republican problem. Sin is a human problem with only one cure: Jesus!
Reblogged! Thanks!
Wow thank you for reblogging this!
Thanks, Jim! Right, sin is not a political issue but a spiritual one. This recent flurry of abuse scandals involving male celebrities reminds us that none is righteous, no not one.
Woops! I forgot to mention the other part of the sin issue here, that Ms. Tweeden posed nude for Playboy magazine in 1996 and 2011 according to Wikipedia. I’m not saying Tweeden deserved to be abused by Franken, certainly not, but some might argue that her actions contributed to the mindset that objectifies women.
Good point; certainly Tweeden does not deserved to be abuse; no one does. However with her other acts she does contribute to the objectifying of women.
Yup, I know it’s not politically correct to call her on it in connection with her abuse, but “it is what it is.” Sorry, I don’t normally like to use that cliché.
Thank you, Pastor Jim! You’ve offered really sound advice on how to think about this issue biblically.
Thank you Maria for reading this and offering your thoughts on it!
Well said.
Amen to all that. J.
5 So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due. (1 Corinthians 4:5 NLT.)
Good points. We as Christian’s need to be very careful about joining in on the quick judgment of others because it will certainly come back and bite us on the back side.
Indeed brother Patrick. It’s not always easy and I have to slow down and not be caught up with all the immediate internet rhetoric, to be biblical and to be fair/just. I appreciate you using 1 Corinthians 4:5 to make the point. God bless your day brother Patrick!
