One Witty Ditty For Your Memory of Theology: God’s grace not through works
January 2, 2018 by SLIMJIM

I haven’t recently have these kinds of post that puts things into bite size memorable ditties but I thought it’s good to post one with the start of a new year.
Salvation is by God’s grace alone and not by our works. Here’s a little rhyme to drive the point home:
One does not labor for God’s favor,
But His grace is through faith in the Savior.

An excellent witty ditty! Thanks. Yeah, you haven’t posted a witty ditty in awhile.
Indeed it has been a while! How was your New Year?
My wife invited a bunch of people over for New Year’s Eve but they all cancelled for various reasons so we had a quiet night with our oldest son and his crew. How about yours?
We had a Church Sleepover New years Eve and I realized I’m not that young anymore because when I got back home New Year’s morning I kept on sleeping! But it was good to hang out with the young guys! Didn’t get as much reading done but I think the time I spent with family on New Year’s Day was worth it…
Sounds like fun! Glad you had a good New Years!
Oh, I do like your “witty ditty” side Pastor Jim . . . you encourage the poet in me 🙂 ~ Have a blessed day with Jesus ~
I know what I have is just a line or two; so this exercise makes me appreciate the poet in you! Thanks for your poem on God’s Word and God’s truth Deborah!
Reblogged this on Talmidimblogging.
Thanks for the reblog Vincent! I’m going to write a post either today or tommorow to pray for your surgery (hopefully I’ll get around to it today!)
Yankee Whiskey Bravo and Roger that 😎 Was just informed my surgery will now take place at 730am eastern tomorrow 😎
I love this, perfect for those of us with mild short term memory loss!
I need it too lol; oh how we always need to be reminded of God’s grace even as Christians!
Ha! Very cute. I enjoy a good ditty.
Thanks God bless you sister, I hope you had a good new year!
Grace is a huge topic, by grace we are saved not of works lest any man should boast.
Amen, the grace of God is so deep and amazing…it is the basis for our salvation and also for our sanctification, a help during our weakness and also grace is the basis and motivation for our service to Him! It is so multifaceted! Thanks bondOservant for your comment, drop by again!
Yes I love His Grace !!
Just recently boned up on the RCC position on the essentials of the faith. Your witty ditty would get you excommunicated. I question both the wisdom and the belief system of any seeking unity with Rome. Rome rejects all 5 solas. They change “alone” with ” plus the mother church” in every case.
my joke is, what would the RCC be if they never went beyond what is written, protestant and Christian.
Pastor Jim, I enjoy your witty-ditties. I understand you are a fundamentalist christian. I was raised a RCC christian. However after observing all the strife the world has known throughout civilization and before, I have concluded that it all stems from organized religion and ideologies. I also observed that everyone talks about God, the Trinity, The Holy Spirit, God’s Will, Eternity and many more entities without ever offering a definition of any. Philosophically speaking, we are not allowed to speak definitively about any entity without first defining its essence. With that awareness, I was compelled to embark on a journey of understanding. That journey unveiled all the problems with religion and ideology, but after 65 years of study, deliberation, prayer, I could find no answer. Finally, when I was 75 years old (I’m 84 now), it struck me; the answer lay in the definition of God, and reorganization of our thought processes about God. We all have been inculcated with the humanistic idea of God as a King, robed in brilliant array, wearing a noble crown, sitting on a glorious throne; Jesus, His son sitting at his right side. The Holy Spirit’s whereabouts is unaddressed. It occurred to, me that such ideation just didn’t do justice to a being so great and powerful to create and manage a universe(s) so massive and involved that no human mind can comprehend it (them). That knowledge compelled me to actually define God’s essence (something no one else has ever done). Simply stated. “GOD IS A PERFECT RATIONAL BEING”. That definition immediately explains all the so-called mysteries about God , but equally important, our relationship with God. I recently published those ideas in a powerful little book, “WILDERNESS CRY-A SCIENTIFIC AND PHILOSOPHICAL APPROACH TO UNDERSTANDING GOD AND THE UNIVERSE. I understand my philosophy is contrary to any teaching of the 33,000 so-called christian religions in the world, or to any ideology of my knowledge. It concludes that the the only uniting force in the universe is adherence to the only two dicta Jesus gave us; Love our God with our all, and Love (accept) our neighbor as ourselves.
