There are over 54 kinds of Seahorses. “Kinds” in science are called species.
Sea horses ranges in size from 0.6 to 14.0 inches (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seahorse#Description).
“Sea horses have 3 main fins to help them swim and steer. They are one fin on their back and one small fin on each side of their head. Seahorse also have a 4th fin under their belly for stability control. Their fins help them stabilize their body in the water.” (http://sciencewithkids.com/science-facts/sea-horse-facts-for-kids.html)
“Seahorse live in three main places, including underwater sea grass beds, mangrove tree roots and coral reefs.” (http://sciencewithkids.com/science-facts/sea-horse-facts-for-kids.html)
Male sea horses have pouches where sea horse eggs are kept and hatched.

3. Illustrate the sea horse
Have four blocks to draw in.

and daddy seahorses really help with raising the children 🙂
Some males of our species can learn something from daddy seahorses; That men should be in their children’s lives. It is tragic that it is not talked about more by the media concerning the correlation between troubled men that become mass shooters and them having a bad relationship with their fathers. Years ago I read a book on the correlation of bad or missing fathers with those committing serious crimes and are in jail. If more father were more like sea horses than absentee fathers, we have a slightly better world, amen?
I couldn’t agree more Jim— and we’re a society who has children while expecting others to take care of them- new moms need more time off to be new moms vs the 6 to 8 was granted— but don’t get me started on responsibility and our society— which brings us back around to daddy seahorses
As a kid I was fascinated with seahorses because of their uncanny resemblance to horses. So cool!
Sea Horses are one of the more cooler sea creatures in my opinion. Perfect for lessons for my young ones too. Hope you have a blessed day at work today brother Tom!
Thanks brother, Jim! The quitting whistle is only 3 hours away, not that I’m watching the clock. 🙂 Hope you’re having a blessed day yourself!
Eeeek, Kk is going to love this! I’m going to share this lesson this Saturday. God bless you, brother!
Thank you sister for your plan to share this lesson! Just FYI I have one more lesson and I’ll be done with the sea creature lessons. Hope you daughter enjoy your time teaching her with every subject!
That’s so exciting! I’ll wait for that last lesson. I get so excited to share these lessons with all my homeschooling friends that I forget to be patient and wait for the last one.
