Thank you Vincent

Thanks, looking forward to listening to this at work this morning.
While this video is intended for pastors, it’s useful for others to get an understanding of how pastors deal with criticism and, in a smaller way, how to deal with criticism even in a blog ministry or in a marriage.
You’re right it is helpful for even those in blog ministry and in marriages! Actually I think it is helpful for everyone! I have listened to this a lot in the past and I thought I should give it a listen again. Its one sermon that I find is more useful than when I first heard it!
Good stuff! Yes, when I first began listening, I was like, this is FPO (for pastors only), but then I began to see the other practical applications.
Because of the intro, after 20 minutes, I had to stop listening. Name dropping reveals many things about yourself. Andy Stanly attacks Sola Scriptura in order to tickle millennial ears. He has gone so far as to suggest that Christianity can be separated from the Bible, especially the OT. He has said that the virgin birth is not necessary to believe in Jesus. He like so many errant men have exulted orthopraxy far and above orthodoxy. This puts the focus on mans deeds not Christ sacrifice on the cross. That by definition can only lead to belief in a false Jesus. Secondly Beeke mentioned a pastor’s vision for his church. There is a lot wrong with vision casting too. With some very minor editing, Beeke’s message could be delivered to a Forbes CEO training session.
This is straining at gnats while swallowing a camel. I am reminded of Matt. 8:38 “you have in mind the things of man not the things of God”. Eph. 4 is the only place the gift/office of “poiemen” is ever mentioned. The Bible lays out in detail the singular job of a “poiemen” and it is not to be a CEO leader of a local church. The God given duty of a “peoimen” is to protect the flock from deception, period.
Lets examine what vision casting CEO pastors have wrought. Look at the number of best sellers among evangelical ill-educated sheep. The Shack, The circle makers, Your best life now, The prayer of Jabez, a list of been to heaven and back books, and of course Jesus calling. This is to shame of CEO manipulation to motivation sermons to fulfill their vision. If the “poiemen” had educated God’s sheep in sound doctrine all of these books would be unread and collecting dust.Instead the deceivers gets a welcome mat not a locked church door. Mr. CEO do you know all of your sheep by name? If quizzed could they explain the essentials of the faith? Have you made them fully aware of the villans introducing destructive teachings? Are they well warned about spiritual formation or un-biblical ecumenical movements or of the pantheism movement?
The Church belongs to Jesus, it is His body. It is not a business and it does not belong to any pastor.
As Forest said, Thats all I have to say about that.
I’m going to have to listen to this again. In terms of the overall message I know he did point out that pastors are sinners and can err and we must take that into account when we hear criticism and consider the truth of what is being said. I appreciated that point.
Enjoyed it
