I’ve been slow about saying this online. An atheist last month came to our church; and vandalized our church front door.
He was trying to put some kind of message on it. This was at 2 in the morning. The reason why we know who it was was because the neighbors saw him. They yelled at him asking what he was doing. He ran back to his car. Then he surprised witnesses because he ran back to the church determined to finish what he was doing. One guy tackled him. He tried to fight back but was taken down. The police was called. Right away he starts blaspheming against God, Christianity and the Church.
I don’t want to go into too many details. There’s a reason why I blog anonymously. Part of it is because I teach theology at certain places of the world that require creative access. The other reason is because of situation like this. This guy found out about my church because of the internet from a particular thing I posted on another platform.
What’s ironic is this guy online talks about tolerance and has been sending me Islamic stuff. I see “Christians” even liking his stuff; more of the Progressive types. But my experience is to beware of some (not all) who talks so much about tolerance; some of them in the name of tolerance end up being the most intolerant out there.
Praise the Lord that guy didn’t get away with doing worse !
I was really surprised the guy was caught; our church is in a rough neighborhood. Vandalism and burglary is normal. But the church is normally not the target. More surprising is to learn who the guy was…
Very sad to see this display of behavior.
Indeed; I don’t want to sound too dramatic but pray for us, the guy has a long history of hating me and its been a decade long.
You should consider legal action for protection (ie. Restraining Order). Praying for a peaceful resolution.
In Jesus name – Amen and Amen ❤️
Slim I think truth2freedom is right you should consider a restraining order from the details you shared in your post and comments
Sorry to hear that! Glad he was caught. Not surprisingly the Leftists support him.
I wouldn’t be surprised those Leftists Christians would blame me more than blame him. Putting this into context I last talked about Christianity with this guy 10 years ago. Apparently there’s a lot of hate he has for Christianity…
Remember the source, praise the Lord that He is our Source of Life; praying for the enemies and their souls. We know not what we do, except the power of the Holy Spirit does His work in us.
Thank you Frances for that encouragement, it means a lot more than you can imagine.
I’m saddened by this news. I pray that the Lord uses these circumstances to soften this person’s heart and that he contemplate Jesus Christ and the Gospel. I pray for you and your church that the Lord protects you all. Yes, we see how “tolerance” crusades turn quickly into intolerance.
Thank you so much for your prayers. I know it shouldn’t affect me as much but I’ve been seriously shocked at who the guy was. Again thank you so much for your prayers as knowing someone who hate me that much really does affect me.
It is disconcerting when we witness irrational raw hatred directed at us. There’s great spiritual warfare all around us and sometimes not so subtle. Lord protect all of you.
Reblogged this on Talmidimblogging.
Thanks for your reblog Vincent
Yankee Whiskey Bravo 👍👍
So very sad to hear this. We are going to be persecuted. It is getting worse.
Thanks for speaking the truth.
Blessings, grace and peace.
I appreciate this encouragement, I am ministered by it brother.
Thanks for sharing, it’s sad to hear. Grace and blessings!
Thank you for your comment Bruce, it means a lot.
I am so sorry this happened to your church! The intolerance of the self-proclaimed tolerant people has always been a bit puzzling to me. How can they not see the irony?
Elihu,
“How can they not see the irony?” That’s what I was thinking. This atheist talks so much about tolerance, that he sends Islamic pages and wants me to like it, follow it, etc., but he doesn’t like that I didn’t do that so much that he has to come to my church and vandalize it. I also thought how irrational the hate that the guy could blasphemed against Christianity to the police officers; in my state targeting the church is a hate crime. He’s digging for himself a deeper hole. He’s incriminating himself. But hate is far from rational is it?
Yes, hate is completely irrational.
We are seeing more and more of this intolerant tolerance every day. What is wrong with people…Sin of course.
Believe it or not he told the neighbors that tackled him that he did what he did because Christians are intolerant. Think about the irrational and hypocritical stance of his action…you are right it is sin that leads people to do things like this, and sin that makes me people irrational and blind to their own hypocrisy.
Sorry for your troubles, Slim. Intolerance towards Christians is a real thing in the world and it can be really painful because what we are usually trying to do is to love people.
I think some people think atheist being “non-religious” is somehow immune from doing evil for ideological reasons. That’s not true. This is an example of it.
Sorry about the damage to your church. Years ago I worked for an urban church that was vandalized with spray paint one Friday night. The teen members of the congregation said that the “tagging” was done by a “wanna-be,” as no true gang member would damage church property. J.
“The teen members of the congregation said that the “tagging” was done by a “wanna-be,” as no true gang member would damage church property” There’s a lot of truth to that. Our church is in a rough area. I’ve had people say they don’t want to come to our church because of the neighborhood it’s at. But the church all these years have never been targeted by tagging crew or gangs for burglary, tagging or other vandalism. But for this ideological atheist that was caught, that’s another story…
I am sorry to hear of this, brother.
Thank you for the supporting words brother. Your comment reminded me to pray for the details of your church.
Ah, yeah. Thanks. Though painful, we have moved forward Biblically on that issue. Still stinks, though. No one has left us over it, though, which proves God has got it in His hands.
Few evangelicals really believe that persecution is knocking at our door. Thanks for this wake up call.
That’s right DebbieLynne!
What a wake up call
Sobering but true
I don’t think that Western evangelicals do not believe that persecution is knocking, its more so that persecution in the West is nothing compared to the horrors (often unreported) that Christians in the non-Western nations go through.
We should pray more for our persecuted brethren
I’m so sorry to hear this, my friend. I prayed, and will continue to pray, for your safety!
Thank you for your prayers sister
Praying for your safety brother and for your Church. I will also pray for the vandal. May the Lord deal with him mercifully.
Praising God no one was hurt.
Be encouraged! We who bear the Name of Jesus will be persecuted. All to His glory.
Thank you Crissy for your prayers. God has been merciful.
John 15:18-19 …..IF THE WORLD HATES YOU IT FIRST HATED ME….. American churches need to wake the sheep from their peaceful slumber. They need to be kept informed of the world wide statistics. The number of lawsuits the censorship the harassment the arrests and convictions the church burning the tortures and mutilations and death sentences the murders and atrocity. The attacks from individuals from opposing religions from political parties from social media giants from governmental bodies. Attacks from the purveyors of apostasy from books to televangelists to seminaries to so called bible translations to para-church organizations.
More Christians documented to having been put death in the last 100 years than in the last 2000 years.
All this while American churches split over their parking spaces.

In today’s world, you’re probably wise to post anonymously. I do as well, but there are a few places where I’ve accidentally left my real name. It is such a shame that we have to be so careful with a ‘free’ internet.
Yeah it truly is a shame. It is sad to see how Civil disagreement has become seem less and less online and also in person. This was an unfortunate example and the guy was someone I last talked about Christianity 10 years ago…sigh.
