The “Christian” Left isn’t really Christian.
This post isn’t about politics per se but about inconsistencies of the “Christian” Left.
I saw on some left leaning propaganda site calling John Allen Chau’s attempt to evangelize in a dangerous Island “a story of hubris and arrogance.” Like typical Leftist material there isn’t any citation or documentation proving the claim, only psycho-assertation about motivation. It’s a basic ad hominem fallacy. It doesn’t necessarily follow that it is hubris that’s driving John Chau. John Chau might be extremely zealous and that zeal for what he believes drives him to humble himself to the point of willing to leave behind his way of life and risk his life for God. My point isn’t that is necessarily the case; I don’t know John Chau’s heart or beliefs. But I bring this up to make the point of the logical fallacy assume by this Christian “Left” writer that her point doesn’t necessarily follow.
The same piece goes on to say John Allen Chau’s method “disregard common sense and respect for these people’s choices to live the way they desire. In the history of missions, this has translated directly into colonization: the act of establishing power and control over indigenous people in the name of Christian conversion.” Again no proof is given by the author that John Allen Chau is trying to “establishing power and control over indigenous people.” If anything John came to these natives powerless. Powerless enough to be physically hurt and murdered by them.
The writer in the same article bashing John Allen Chau also dribble on about how “white people harm with their white saviorism.” White people suddenly becomes the subject of the rest of the article and she even defined white supremacy: “white supremacy: the idea that the white man has superior ways of living while indigenous people are “savage,” and needs to be forcefully “civilized.””
It’s interesting that suddenly racism is invoke, which is their all time favorite “blasphemy” law that the Left loves to preach about. But John Allen Chau is ethnically Asian. The article didn’t even acknowledge that. Which is even more strange because the writer herself is Asian. Its interesting how the Left is so ready to read their ideological Narrative into everything that they can’t acknowledge basic facts in their story telling. Here the writer airbrushes John Allen Chau “White.” And the Left loves “White bashing.” “White” is mentioned twelve times in this piece while “Chau” is mentioned five times. The writer can’t get any more racist than that than to find someone she disagree with and then put them into an ethnic and racial group that her and her fan base loves to bash. Meanwhile Elizabeth Warren is Native American and one should accept her as one. If you can’t see the double standard of that I guess you really are Left leaning color blind.
Good post, thanks for sharing SlimJim, you always have to use wisdom when reading any news online.
I have read a few things about Chau, most of them not good. He was doing what he believed God called him to do and should be respected for that.
Most people who criticize him probably don’t evangelize in America where it’s safe so…
As far as “racism” and “white supremacy” goes, the left has used them so much they have lost all their meaning.
Good post Jim, as always:)
You’re right the Left have overused the term “racism” and attacking White it also have no meaning. It’s terrible that they have to take this news story and make it about Whites. Its like they are addicted to demonize White people. And as someone who is outside looking in (I’m not White) the racism of the “Christian” Left is evident. Hope you are doing well! Just FYI I’m still working out late at night =)
Hi brother it’s about our common Faith in Jesus Christ and that has nothing to do with skin color and at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb we will not be talking about politics, race, or any other Earthly things agree? Our concern should always be the Gospel not race or skin color agree?
I agree its all about the Gospel. Its sad that some would go around claiming to be Christians would use religion as a tool for Leftist ideology and agenda all under the guise of “Spirituality” but its just prejudice. Shame on these guys, agreed right?
Yes I mean did you see what Beth Moore tweeted that Dr. James White responded to she need to read Colossians 3:10-11. This whole wokeness is nuts and racism is a sin.
Beth Moore is so problematic I’m glad James White responded to her. I also don’t know why she’s so popular…
It’s nuts what she said just insane I’m a white guy I don’t care about skin color at all neither should we as the Body of Christ. I’m glad Dr. White said something.
I agree with everything you say about racism.
Also, good job on continuing the workouts:)
Here is a pretty good article on Chau. Stetzer, I think, leans liberal with his theology but he is not know for leaping to conclusions.
Do you have Stezer’s article? I don’t see the link and can’t find it
I put it here with my original comment but WP must have stripped it. It shouldn’t be too hard to find, was in The Washington Post not long ago.

Thank you for this reblog brother how are you doing tonight?
Your welcome I’m ok thank you for asking how are you doing?
I am doing well, yesterday I was so tired from ministry I slept from 7PM to 12:30 AM and after some reading went back to sleep! I don’t remember when was the last time I fell asleep at 7 PM before, been a long time lol. What time do you normally go to sleep brother?
That’s a long time for me it depends on what time I go to bed.
That’s good.
Wow. John Allen Chau accused of white supremacy. 🙄 Some writers just don’t check their facts very closely.
I’ve heard Christianity referred to as a ‘white man’s religion’, but it didn’t originate in Europe. In its beginning, it emerged from what was considered the eastern world.
Good point you made: “I’ve heard Christianity referred to as a ‘white man’s religion’, but it didn’t originate in Europe. ”
Its crazy how much reverse hate and racism there is today. And how much of it is respectable among today’s Politically Correct Leftists. I’m sadden to see that, I’m sure you are too.
Thank you, Slim. The attacks on John Allen Chau have worn on my nerves.
Sad 😔
Thank you for writing this post. So many attacks on John Chau . It’s sad.
Yes I agree the attacks need to stop.
I hope those senseless attacks stop too
As Universalist attitudes continue to slowly creep into the believing church, I can foresee when so-called “evangelicals” will look askance at “extreme” efforts to reach the lost as happened with John Allen Chau. There are parallels in Roman Catholicism, which honors its missionary martyr “saints” with feast days, but the church now teaches that everyone can be saved “if they follow the light they are given,” hence there’s dwindling motivation to evangelize.
It’s sad to see how bad doctrines have real consequences in missions, evangelism and of course practical living. How sad it is the universalists’ attitude undermine so called “Christian left” with seeing those who are willing to risk their life to reach an unreach people as being necessarily racists and arrogant, etc. By the way I just commented on your post on your blog and I think since I have it for a few hours on my browsers before I commented I think wordpress might think I’m a spammer…sigh.
Thanks for the heads up. I just retrieved your good comment and replied.
Totally agree, Tom.
Brother, great insight as always. I have been following the story. What a great tragedy and I am praying for his family and friends. I am inclined to take Mr. Chau words at face value and assume good faith on his part.
Blessings from King Jesus.
I agree with you: ” I am inclined to take Mr. Chau words at face value and assume good faith on his part.” Yet its so sad to see those who are against the Gospel and profess to be “Christians” who are actually Leftists that sprinkle Christianese lingo go about with character assassination and project the least charitable assumption of Mr. Chau to the point of manufacturing Mr. Chau as white in order to bash whites, its so wrong! By the way thank you for sharing this post on your blog!
Once again Jim…like I said the other day when you posted about this tragedy…it is the assumption we make of one man’s intentions and what is in his heart—we assume we know John…and yet we don’t. While the folks out there, with their judgment calls, are casting the judgment on what they have simply read reported.
We are given just a few facts…be they erroneous or factual and we base our entire opinion and thoughts on such…foolishly more often than not.
The bottom line here is that there is a family mourning…no matter John’s thoughts or intentions…his is a young life gone far too soon.
Will there be lesson’s from his death…probably.
But when we as a society become so callous as to mock and or ridicule the loss of life, in this case, the death of a young man, then our problems far outweigh even this single loss.
Well said
thank you Jim

Here is the truth from my good friend SlimJim.
In the upside down world we are now in we should not be surprised at any thing.
I know right? Its crazy! Christians really need to practice discernment with things online, I see even sincere Christians not thinking critically share junks on social media. By the way how are you recovering from the long Thanksgiving weekend?
It too bad. Got everything cleaned up pretty fast. Finished up a greeting card order and started work on repairing my grandson cowboy chaps he needs for a school play on Grand Parents day. Too cold to work outside. Then there are the two down the hill that take up time. Daddt isn’t working with us since all of the company at his house, Mother fell, not hurt, and the wheel keeps going. Round and round.
I’m not familiar with his story, but I do know that the “Christian” Left will always oppose evangelism of the real Gospel. It is one of the many reasons you can know they are wolves.
Yep! By the way I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend I don’t think I got around to saying Happy Thanksgiving as I got caught up with family and things offline…

Wow Hawk2017 thank you for reblogging this post! I appreciate it very much!
Can you send me a link the story you are referencing? I would like to use it in my Bible class and have my students reflect on it. You can send it via my email jonathan.roberts@pcschools.org
[…] My first post was titled “John Allen Chau and North Sentinel Island.” My second post was titled “Double Standard of the “Christian” Left Concerning John Allen Chau.” […]
The story of John Chau reminded me of another missionary named Jim Elliot. In 1956 Elliot and four other missionaries were killed by Auca Indians, whom they were trying to reach with the gospel. Others carried on their work and the Aucas were evangelized. I am praying that the same thing will happen in this case.
Let us continue to pray that the same will happen with this unreached isolated people group, Amen?
Where is the original article if you don’t mind me asking?
You are not the only one
I imagine God will judge these so callsd Christians more harshly than the natives since they are ignorant of Christ but these Leftists pervert the truth about Christ that they read and misinterpret from the Bible
There’s so many fake Christians whose hatred of the Gospel is evident when they spend more time attacking those who evangelize than actually defending the faith from attacks.
I’ve had much time to ponder this. By the logic of most Christian’s (barring the leftist logic you so eloquently wrote about), most feel that we (fellow believers) must be outside the will of God if we face opposition to that which we feel we are called. Many think, when faced with a trial, “Maybe it was pizza and not God that told me to go here or there.” By that logic, Paul should have never gone to Macedonia because he was beaten for his obedience.
We may never understand the direct impact this man’s death had on others but neither did those who stoned Stephen. It is only in hind sight that we know the value of Stephen’s death. And, in hindsight, others will know the impact of this man’s death.
” And, in hindsight, others will know the impact of this man’s death.”
I agree; it is only in hindsight we see the fuller reason and impact. Truth be told this is one of the things I look forward to in heaven, to see what does it all mean with certain chapters and events in my life and the life of other Christians and what they went through. I love history now but I can’t wait to read history in the hind sight of heaven! Do you ever get these kinds of feelings and thoughts as I described?
I am a walking, talking version of what you just described. I can’t wait to see history in all of its accuracy with no bias thrown in. And, one thing I really look forward to seeing is how God pulled off the Red Sea crossing.
Yes!

YW Brother Jim! God bless you!
Can’t help but to think about these two verses Matthew 7:1-2, Jeremiah 17:10
and that is all I have to add 🙂 Thank you for your insights into this Pastor Jim!
[…] Double Standard of the “Christian” Left Concerning John Allen Chau […]
Leftists Christians are typically wolves in sheep’s clothing
They’re a bunch of idiots.
Sad that there are so called Christians would make fun of mock this guy. God remembers Him in the Kingdom.
