I haven’t reviewed children’s book in a while. I wished I reviewed this earlier, this makes for a great gift for children.
R.C. Sproul. The Lightlings. Sanford, FL: Reformation Trust Publishing, October 1st 2006. 40 pp.

It has been over a year since RC Sproul passed away and reading this book to my kids made me missed him. While I read this books to my kids twelve years after this book was first written it is still as relevant as ever; that’s because this work is based upon Christian truth about the Gospel, with the theme of creation, fall and redemption told in the form of an allegory. I would say this work is a classic.
The story begins with a little girl telling her grandpa being told by his grandson that he’s afraid of the dark. This turns into a teachable moment in which the grandfather tells a story. That story is an allegory involving beings called “lightlings.” In this story we learn people are not only afraid of the darkness but they are also afraid of the light. Lightlings here in the book became afraid of their maker. There’s an analogy of Jesus Christ here along with the incarnation.
The artwork for this book is beautiful and well done. My children enjoyed it. I recommend it.
The whole book is now free:

Thanks for the reblog! Have you heard of the author RC Sproul? Have you seen any of his teaching videos? Or do you have any favorite books by him? How’s your day going so far?
Your welcome. Yes I have heard of him have watched clips of him don’t have any book from him though. My day is going good thank you for asking how is your day?
My day is good! Just came home from much ministry all day and night. Glad you have seen clips from Sproul; what are you doing tonight?
That’s good God sure used RC Sproul to share the Gospel and preach. I’m just on here right now.
Ha! Thanks for reminding me I wanted to review some kid’s books. I was reading one the other day, part of a series called “theology for tiny people.” Very funny, because it was a cardboard book and I was in the nursery at the time, but I thought, “I know some adults who really need to read this book!” It was actually just presenting the names of God. Who is God? A good Father, the Great Comforter, Provider, Jesus…Very simple, but very cute book. 🙂

Great review from SlimJim at the Domain for Truth. You can trust this is a great book. 5 of 5 rating.
Jim, thank you for sharing this review. One of the first videos of R.C. Sproul I saw was Reformed Theology, very effective in explaining and convincing for me of God’s sovereignty and works of grace. Here is link to a post with the video series on Holiness, one of Sproul’s early series. I need to add this to my Video page. Blessings as you continue to read and post your reviews. They are very helpful.
Thank you for the link to the video series. I have been blessed by many of Sproul’s books and videos, although its been more books than videos since I’m more of a reader. I am encouraged to hear how Sproul’s video series on holiness is on your site. I found his book Holiness and Chosen by God to be instrumental in my young Christian walk. Imagine one day we can fellowship with Sproul…and Christ! And also we see each other in person!!!!
The correct title of his video series is The Holiness of God. It is work finding the time to watch, maybe even together with your wife. What a day that will be when all of heaven will be opened to us and we shall see His Holiness reflected in us all with nothing between us and all His children. It is worth the wait in preparation. Prayers and lessings for your Lord’s Day ministry.

I have on few books of RC Sproul on Kindle, He was an anointed teacher. I have learned much from him.
Thank you for the review.
I agree he’s an annointed teacher; I rarely hear Christians describe teachers as “annointed” without being super cautious because of how abused that term is but its true in the case with Sproul. I enjoyed the Crucial Question booklet series he’s made available on Kindle; if you haven’t downloaded them all I’ve linked to all of them on a blog post in the past here: https://veritasdomain.wordpress.com/2013/05/22/r-c-sprouls-crucial-questions-ebooks-now-free-forever/
I use the word cautiously , specially because Of my long involvement in a Pentecostal Church.
Thank you for the link Pastor Jim
Blessings
Thanks for the review for us adults! Yup, I miss R.C. also!
Yes he is missed! I commend him and MacArthur for speaking out of the concern for ECT. Not many who are that well known are willing to do that…
Yes. Will there be any nationally known pastors or para-church leaders who will take a strong stand against ecumenism with Rome after J Mac is gone?
Look for the truth in everything, using the Word as truth reference, teaching children from babes. They will retain this and grow strong. Thank you. I have not read his teachings but peruse soon Thank you. 🙂
Amen. I imagine you are speaking not only based upon God’s truth but also from life’s experience. God bless you Bonnie!
Thank you , my friend. :))
I did not know he wrote a children’s book. Thanks for the review, as with that new grandbaby I am always on the hunt for kids books now.
Sproul wrote surprisingly good children’s books. My kids like it a lot if that’s any push for you to get Sproul’s books lol
He’s definitely in heaven
