Archive for January, 2019

One of those weeks where all things seem to happen at once and pile up out of nowhere suddenly with ministry.

Off to sleep then sermon prep, family time, evangelism and sermon prep again.

Pray for me.

My post Nathan Phillips problematic slander of the Covington Boys has went viral.  A big part of that is people going on search engines looking up Nathan Phillips’ lies about his military experience.  One of the best expose of Nathan Phillips is by Don Shipley here.  Don Shipley was a career Navy SEAL and I must warn you his language is that of a…sailor.

But I saw another video in which Shipley exposes another guy that lied about being a Vietnam Vet and members of some special operations unit that has also generated a lot of publicity from the public.

Here’s the video:

Let me say in the beginning of this post that I’m not Catholic (I strongly think their view of salvation is wrong) nor did I vote for Trump.  Also I am not a racist, being a minority myself nor am I anti-Native American since I married someone who is much more Native American than Elizabeth Warren.  I’m writing this post for the sake of truth: There’s been more fake news from the mainstream media against these high school kids from Coivington High School and the more I look into it the more disturbing it gets.

I have also talked about this with a liberal friend on social media and when I showed them what I found I didn’t get a reply.  But I have seen him become more cautious in his comments with others as a result of what I shared and his friends pointing out that there’s something to what I was saying.  Perhaps this post can help others too.

For today’s post we will tackle an issue the Skeptic Annotated Bible raised: Did Jesus cursed figs to show how much God hates figs?

Here’s the passage the Skeptic thinks is absurd:

Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening.

Mark 11:13-14

(All Scriptural quotation comes from the New American Standard Bible)

Here is what the Skeptic Annotated Bible says:

Jesus kills a fig tree for not bearing figs, even though it was out of season. He did this to show the world just how much God hates figs.

I know Christians also struggle with this passage.

Here’s a closer look at whether or not there is an absurdity:
