Bible Contradiction? Was Jehu the son or grandson of Nimshi?

For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: Was Jehu the son or grandson of Nimshi?

Here are the two answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

Jehu was the son of Nimshi.

“and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.” (1 Kings 19:16)

Jehu was the grandson of Nimshi.

“When you arrive there, search out Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in and bid him arise from among his brothers, and bring him to an inner room.” (2 Kings 9:2)
