My favorite preacher to read is Charles Spurgeon. I need to read him more this year.
I pray that I have twice the portion of the Spirit that Spurgeon has.
Here’s two quotes from Charles Spurgeon that really fires me up with preaching.
The man who cannot weep cannot preach. At least, if he never feels tears within, even if they do not show themselves without, he can scarcely be the man to handle such themes as those which God has committed to his people’s charge.
And
Love your fellowmen, and cry about them if you cannot bring them to Christ. If you cannot save them, you can weep over them. If you cannot give them a drop of cold water in hell, you can give them your heart’s tears while they are still in this body
Preachers, go preach it this morning!
Powerful quotes ! What wisdom. We
Can learn so much from such man as Spurgeon . Have a powerful and blessed Lord’s Day pastor Jim.
Thank you Crissy! Also thank you for sharing our posts on Twitter. I hope you also had a blessed Lord’s Day earlier?
I did! Thank you and you are welcome.
The only Spurgeon I have read is from Timothy F. Kauffman’s “Geese in Their Hoods: Selected Writings on Roman Catholicism by Charles Haddon Spurgeon” which was excellent. This reminds me that I must finish Lloyd-Jones’ “Studies on the Sermon on the Mount.” The Lord gave us some examples of men of faith in Spurgeon and Lloyd-Jones.
I enjoy both men’s teaching and their example. Let me know if you got my email that I sent. Have a blessed Lord’s Day!
Got your email and replied. Thanks and have a blessed Lord’s Day too!

NIce. Have a blessed Sunday.
How was your Sunday? I imagine you slept during the Super Bowl to get ready for work?
Good day today. I taught the adult class in the evening and that was good. Yep I skipped the ball game lol. Saw the grand baby though. How was yours?
Wow praise God for your teaching! Nice to hear you got to see the grandbaby! My Sunday was unusually good. We’ve have a returning high school kid who has been receiving God’s Word very receptively that changed the attitude of your youth and we did a personal discipleship time with our high school boys and it was so different with the new kids we have that changed our kids for the better. Then I preached at another church that’s struggling in the evening and I think I might be comitting to help this other church. There’s so much need, so much who are lost and so much ministry to do and time is so short…
That is so true. Pray for more laborers. Jesus prayed that and we should too.

He’s my favorite preacher to read too! I read his “Morning and Evening” every day.
Nice! That might be a nice guest post idea, your personal reflection from Spurgeon’s devotions?
Good idea! Although I would like to use one of my previous blog posts as a guest post. I have updated “Creation vs. Evolution” to make it better. Is that OK?
That is ok!
🙂
Do you have any suggestions on how I can make the “Creation” post better?
Wow. Amen.:)
Ours “preached it” this morning starting with Luke 1:59 ~ Zacharia’s song. I was the one in tears. Blessings for the remainder of this day and the new week.
Thank you for the blessings; I’m going to have to download your pastor’s sermon sometime this week and hear it when I’m out and about driving for ministry.

A wonderful way of looking at the task of Christians.
Thanks for the reblog!
You are most welcome! Glad to do it! 🙂
Motivating
Your welcome brother 🙂
Thank you brother good night.
These are nice quotes from Spurgeon to bring up. I imagine there are certainly a lot of details in the context of the quote to take into consideration. I’m not a preacher but I learn from this post to love the church even as a member and to seek in prayer for the lost to come to Christ.
Amen! It is a message that had been in my heart for some time, “whatever happened to the weep?” It seems that no one weeps over sin any more. We need a little Jeremiah in us.
Spurgeon had a way with punching people between the eyes with the truth.
Yeah! And he does it in a way that actually makes me want to do what is right!
It’s a blessing sharing the good news… Check this out https://swhyteescribe.home.blog/she-can-do-more-2/ you’ll love it
