This Lord’s Day I want to encourage you strongly to pray. To pray for the persecuted church.
These last few years I’ve gotten the privilege to serve believers in other countries. I’ve been humbled to hear stories of these believers of the hardship some have faced, especially with government persecution. I’ve counted it as one my highest honor to have the privilege to serve these men and women by teaching them theology, the Bible and the Christian life.
There’s so many things I wish I can say here. And some things that I can never share publicly.
Some of the stories of persecutions that believers face they wish not to have many people know about. Reason being it can be a backlash and cause more problems upon them. Sadly this can also bury them to obscurity before men and other Christians.
But God will never forget.
God will never forget what these believers go through under great pressure and what they have done in being faithful to God.
It has changed the way I see Christians, fame and celebrity culture within evangelicalism. There’s going to be a great reversal in the future. And the biggest reversal would be with persecutors and the persecuted.
I hope its obvious I’m posting this because of persecutions that believers I know are facing. There’s several things this past week…
Please pray for these brave pastors, their family, their kids and the rest of the church.
I am Jim and also those being held in prisons and jails. Thank you.
Thank you Bruce this means a lot. If there is a future opportunity for me to go back I would let them know a Canadian prayer warrior is also out there praying.
We all can humble ourselves in prayer for Christians who are being persecuted around the world. Thank you for keeping this issue in the light so others remember. Praise God that He never forgets.
Thanks for this post. I will continue to pray. We Christians in America get lulled into a life of temporal ease and security where “following Christ” means only going to church on Sundays and pretty much living like the world the rest of the week. What if being a Christian meant harassment and persecution from our neighbors? Our churches being shut down? Facing arrest for evangelizing? Thank you for reminding us that many of our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world must deal with severe persecution because of their faith. We need to pray for them – and for our spiritual lethargy.
Thank you for your prayers as this is exactly what’s going on right now. I wish for this particular instance that these believers will know people are praying for them from literally around the world…
Thank you for this post. It is so important that we pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless you Pastor Jim.
Thank you for your prayers. By the way I just figured out who you are I should have known! Lol…
Lol
Thanks so very much for the great insight. We must pray. And we must stand with our brothers and sisters.
Please let us know if there is something we can do.
Amen Jim’b
That should read “amen Jim!!”— blast this thumb 😂👍🏻
The Lord’s Day of all day is an appropriate time to pray for the persecuted church especially in Africa, Middle East, Asia.
Reblogged this on Joshua Swanson and commented:
Please pray for all the Christians all around the world serving Christ!!
In Prayer.
Wow! We commented at the same time! 🙂
Thank you so much it seems God has heard our prayers with the specific situation that prompted this post; though next week might be a different story. Again Bonne I am immensely thankful for your prayers.
Well said, Jim! Amen!
Thanks brother RG. Let us remember our persecuted brothers and sisters in prayer, Amen?
Amen!
Thanks for posting this especially in light of the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka: https://moreenigma.com/2019/04/24/the-most-targeted-body-in-the-world/.
I admire the response of our Sri Lankan brothers/sisters to not take revenge: https://moreenigma.com/2019/05/01/not-a-call-to-revenge/
For such a time as this: may we be found faithful.
What a moving example
