Thanks for the reblog! Have a blessed Saturday
To you also.
Finally got to this list, SJ, after a day full of yardwork, a haircut, and a new bathroom project.
RE: How to be an atheist.
Queuing this one up for Monday AM at work.
RE: Beware Greeks Bearing Gifts
Glad to see Van Til was not a fan of Aquinas’ views on the nature of God. But I wonder if Van Til had anything to say about Aquinas’ support and propagation of erroneous doctrines such as baptismal regeneration, transubstantiation, purgatory, etc. I see Van Til wrote “Notes on Roman Catholicism” (1964), which is unfortunately not available from any Amazon third-party sellers, but Leonardo De Chirico, said that Van Til didn’t go far enough in his critique.

RE: Pluralism as Dogma
I enjoyed this viewpoint of relativism as a dogmatic religion.
RE: I was a teenage fundamentalist
I got a chuckle out of this one. Triablogue was undoubtedly referring to folks who claim to have been evangelicals at one time, but have “converted” to relativism or atheism. But, as you well know, I had a whole series of posts recounting my years in an independent, fundamental, Baptist church, which mixed the Gospel with A LOT of legalism and pastoral authoritarianism. It was somewhat cathartic to remember several of the things we endured at that church.
Wow sounds like you had a lot on your plate! I too was busy today but not the same way, stayed up late working on sermon prep then early morning drove an hour away to a college graduation of someone from my church then just got back home after surviving the traffic and was going to take a nap but then I needed to talk to the girls and then felt I need to go on here a little bit before going to church to do VBS decorations into the late night. Concerning Van Til and Romanism I need to look at that link from Triablogue as I never saw that one before. Reading Van Til he’s always concern with Romanism in broad strokes. I think he’s assuming his students saw the refutation of it elsewhere in their courses so Van Til was more about the philosphical implication of Romanism towards apologetics that Protestant adopt rather than a direct critique of Roman Catholicism. Anyways, many good points on here in your comment. You must be super tired right now and I imagine you believe you will have a good night’s rest tonight in light of all that you have done?
Good points re: Van Til. Sounds like your day is very busy, too! I actually “slept in” until 5:30 this morning. Maybe I’ll have another good night like that tonight! Yeah, I’m beat but I should work on the bathroom some more.
I liked seeing the review on the book on Dawkins. Never heard of that particular title and author though I know and have read the author’s father’s book (Vern Poythress).
Thank you for the links. Blessings
