American Christians identify with nationality more than relationship with Christ?

I saw this on Reddit:

I’m a Christian, and I happen to be from America. Personally, I don’t really care where I’m from and have no pride in being from America. We aren’t this special place that God loves more than any other place, and I don’t understand the whole “God Given Right” to things such as gun ownership. None of that really correlated with who Jesus is, as he traveled to different places, loved everybody, and identified with his relation to God rather than his nationality.

What are your thoughts on this? I really want to get better perspective.
