This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Write a note or letter to someone.
At the time I’m writing this post it is seen as the holiday season. Some people are more receptive to cards this time of the year. Take the opportunity to encourage someone with the things of God and the things of Christ. Write a note or a card for someone in your church as well!
But I want to encourage you to do this beyond the holiday season. Write a short note if you don’t normally write much. Perhaps sharing a verse or two that’s relevant to the person. Remember its better to be brief and the person read it and would be encouraged than to write something long and it goes unread.
I realize every Sunday for the last few months we have been considering what we can do each Sunday when we meet with the body of Christ at church. Some of you might say you’re more an introvert or are not good with conversations. For some of you writing a card might be one practical way you show your love and encourage others. Even if you are comfortable with talking to others about the things of God and Christ think about how writing a card or note might be an additional way you can bless others. Plus that blessing flows beyond you meeting and greeting and/or having a conversation with someone; you give them something to take home or read while away from church to remind them the importance of the things of God even outside the four walls of the church! For you who are great at conversations, think of this as “force multiplier”!
Pray and again write briefly of what words to write!

Lovely idea!
How sweet . I like that idea!
That’s for your thoughts on this idea. I hope it would be practical and God uses our notes and letters to others in ministering to the lives around us. Actually I hope God uses our writings even with our blogs online too, to encourage the saints and evangelistically to nonbelievers!
Yes ! Amen.
Thank you for your faithful commitment to our Lord Jesus.
This is awesome! What a great idea!
What a wonderful suggestion. Blessings from mighty King Jesus.
Thanks for the good exhortation! You’ve given me the idea to send our pastor a Christmas card thanking him for all he does.
Wow that’s also a good idea. Very good specific detail that can be an example for others who might be having a writer’s block of who and what to write about. Does church attendance actually decline in your area when it snows?
RE: Church attendance and snow
We’re pretty used to snow up here so it has to be a bad storm for people to stay home. Our church actually gets a lot of students from a nearby college during the school year so there’s probably 30-40% less people attending from June-August.

This is funny. I woke up this morning revisited by heavy heart. I missed an important memorial service and never reached out to our bereaved friend, now a widower miles away.
I decided I must write him a letter and apologize and somehow show love. (Then I read your post!)
Thanks brother, I think in this ultra electronic age there’s nothing like a real letter.
May hearts be moved.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
Today (Dec. 15), we are handing out Thank you/Christmas cards to all of our volunteers. My wife is the more introverted one who also overanalyze every word to make sure it sounds right, is not offensive on some way, and it’s understood. If she can get through this process (with a little added help from me, since I am one of the leadership, as well!), we all can.
And it is okay to all for help.
And it is okay to keep our simple.
And it is generally okay to add a hug if you see them.
Daniel
As a card maker I am all for keepimg the written word alive. People need to know they are thought of, loved and a card or not showes you care.
Amen.
This is a wonderful idea, brother!
We received the letters. Appreciated very much
I was just thinking of that today. When I got out of the Army, I sent Christmas letters to about twenty people. Sadly, most have passed away, and all but one of the others has moved without leaving a forwarding address. I have been thinking about writing that “one”, so tonight it is.
Thank you for the shove in the right direction.
Recently, my wife and I participated at our church in filling out Christmas cards. These cards will be distributed as part of a prison ministry. We included a Christian message as well as Scripture. We look forward to other opportunities such as this.
Great idea!
