I want to make a bite size witty ditty to make a point memorable.
For Christians the Bible should be important since it is God’s Word.
Christians should have two proper relationship to the Bible. What are they?
Here’s a little rhyme to drive the point home:
Lord guide me to interpret what Your Word is about,
And also to have the moral courage to live it out.
Christians must do two things: Interpret God’s Word properly and also apply it.
Yet those two things (interpretation and application of the Bible) can be difficult.
So we need to pray to God for help.
And that witty ditty is a form of a prayer to God.
Pray to God to guide you to interpret the Bible properly; but also work hard on your skill to interpret God’s Word accurately.
Then pray to God that you can live it out to please God.
By the way the two are inter-related. If your understanding of God’s Word is off, it means you might not be applying what God wants properly. Also if you interpret God’s Word properly but don’t apply it that also doesn’t please God.
Yet on the other hand if you read God’s Word with the desire to apply it that means you will work hard to interpret it accurately since you are motivated to obey God. If you interpret God’s Word properly that then means there are implications from God’s Truth for your life.
Find out what God’s Word really has to say and then live it out!

Simple but true.
lol…the first thing that came to my mind as I read what you wrote about reading the Word and living it was, “Keep the tractor wheels straight or else your rows will be crooked.” I think you just gave me an idea for a new post. 🙂
If your new post is something with wisdom and Southern sayings, that will be a delight for me to read it!
Spot on!
Orthodoxy and orthopraxy is the purpose of our doctrine. Let us practice our doctrine with joy and praise to the Lord’s glory. Blessings for your Lord’s Day.
We call it putting your finger on the Word… and then practice it.
Love this .
Thank you; how are you doing?
Persevering by the Grace of God.
Have a blessed Sunday pastor Jim.
A nice way to remember.

Very appropriate as we enter a new calendar year, but this message should be a frequent reminder to read God’s Word with the clearest of meanings and apply it accurately to our lives. Sometimes we need a mid-course correction.
hey there and thank you. Intriguing rhyme
Gotta read it rightly and live it rightly!
