Within this series I will have a mini-series on reading. This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Talk about what you read during the week.
Two weeks ago I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Ask others what they read during the week.” There was a good discussion in the comments about what if you were to ask others what they read and its taken wrongly by others; or you know they probably haven’t read anything spiritual or the Word of God during the week and it might result in conflict.
I also suggest that sometimes it is helpful to share what you yourself have read during the week. Share contents of what you learned, what stirred you, what made you love God more. Share that to bless the person you are talking to on Sunday. Let that also be an example of reading during the week. Again don’t forget to share in such a way as to bless them. By the way a metric of whether or not you are blessing someone with what you are sharing is whether or not they are talking with you instead of you having a one way monlogue! So when they respond to what you are sharing, listen!
Its hard to remember what ministered to you when you read during the week. So I encourage you to write it down. Review it before Sunday. Then at church you can have conversations where you share the highlights.
Try this today!

Thanks for the good exhortation, brother! I tend to keep the edifying materials that I read and listen to to myself (except when reviewing something here at WordPress). Example: I just recently suggested to my wife that she download the Grace to You app to her iphone because JMac recently presented a very long sermon series about trials and suffering. She’s been very blessed by the messages. I’ve been listening to JMac for quite awhile so why didn’t I suggest the GTY app sooner?
Wow that is another excellent idea with suggesting spiritually solid apps! I might write a post on that for future “This Sunday” post!
That would be a great idea for a post! The only spiritual-themed apps I have are an ESV Bible app from Crossway and the Grace to You app. I’m sure you know of many other Biblically-solid apps. I still like to do my Bible study with hard copy resources.

Now here is a good word!
“What did you read this week?”… it’s a good question to think about how the culture/world might be influencing you… what kind of false messages might you be fighting off about your self, your worth, your body image, etc… it’s a good question!

I am part of a very large group, spread out around the world!) participating in a daily reading plan in the YouVersion Bible app. It has discussion at the end. My wife and I are doing that and another one for just us, also in the app. Our church is going through Ephesians, and we assign readings to encourage everyone thi follow along and dig deeper.
There are many ways to stay engaged with the Word and each other about the Word.
Honestly, we have no excuse in the Western culture to not be reading something during the week. (I let the app read passages to me so that I hear it, too.) As it says in Ephesians 5, “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her
by the washing of water with the word,
so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” (vv. 25-27, ESV)
So read the Word. Tell others about it this week.

Very good.
Thanks hope you’re having a good Lord’s day!
I did and have a Blessed Monday,
“So what is this gospel, this “good news,” that Jesus is preaching?” Good study topic.
Excellent idea
