Our “This Sunday” series will be another a Corona Virus edition. For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for those who are unemployed.
The Scripture states “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
I saw on the news “Unemployment Claims Jump Another 5.25 Million — Over 22 Million Lost Jobs.” This is quite a sad news and I imagine the unemployment rate is going to go higher with this quarantine.
How could we not pray for those in our church who lost their jobs and also for those whom we know?
Text others about how they are doing and about their jobs so you can know who needs prayers.
Though you might not be able to physically meeting as a church you can use skype/zoom/phone/text to connect with other believers to pray.

This is a horrible situation. God is God and can lead us all back to work. Our government needs to wake up to the devastation this is bringing.
Blessings.
Thank you for this post, Jim. GOD bless you and your family! I really need GOD’s intervention on this but GOD seems to have plans for extending the detour.
I’m praying for you and your family in the island too. Is your employment affected by this?
Thank you, Jim. No, its been a 2 year detour actually. I don’t know why, no matter what. I prayed to Him daily. So, I reckon, just like Jonah, GOD wants me to do this 2nd mission, just like the first one (i.e. gersom clark youtube channel) 12 years ago. Maybe, He wants me to learn more on Him. Could He shielded me from this pandemic all along and prepares me. He is sovereign in my life, I will know in heaven why. For now, more faith in Him.
Amen. Totally agree.
Thanks, brother! I’m close to retirement, but being unemployed I can sympathize with these millions of people who are 10-20-30-40 years from retirement and who are going to really struggle.
Writing this post also led me pray for you with your job search. No doubt the virus situation doesn’t help, humanly speaking. How was church online streaming today?
Thanks, brother! We’ve yet to get an idea of just how big the economic impact of this pandemic will be. It’s promising to see government officials starting to talk about opening society back up but it’s going to take a while.
We had a very good virtual service this morning and I hope your services are greatly blessed as well. BTW, my wife’s anxiety is through the roof and she constantly wants to go to Emergency even though they could do nothing for her there. Can you please pray that her doctor comes up with an effective sedative. They’ve tried a few but nothing working yet. Sorry for all of the details but she’s reaching her limit. I’ve seen this before.
Praying along with you.
Glad to hear that, I am going to be praying for this the next few Sundays (and other days too); do you know any of your church members unemployed as a result of this situation?
Yes, we have MANY furloughed members. It’s a difficult situation to say the least.
Our whole world is in need of prayer. If anything…this has shown most of us not only live week to week but day to day and we weren’t prepared. Hard lesson to learn.

Amen.
Is there any family members you have I should pray for concerning unemployment or risk of unemployment?
Thank you Pastor Jim. My family are blessed to be working. Please pray for healing of Daughter and Grandaughter.:)

So much happening since the outbreak of this virus. So many people suffering.
So true. How we need to pray. Are there people I can pray for that because of the virus has lost their jobs?
I don’t know of anyone that has lost their jobs due to the virus. My daughter hasn’t lost her job but every third Saturday she has to work six hours without pay.

Thank you for the reminder, Jim.
Sad & Amen!
Amen!
The unemployment numbers are disheartening to see. At the same time, small businesses and independent contractors have been shuttered as well. Many of these people are not included in unemployment statistics. Our prayers need to include those who out of work.

Being laid off now is a sad thing for many. And this is happening all around the world.
How much more true that is in July going into August than when you said this May. So sad!
