I haven’t done our blog’s “wee-kids Wednesdays” lately but here’s this week’s review of Children’s books. While this week’s review of children’s books aren’t Christian works they are still something homeschool kids and parents would appreciate!
Geronimo Stilton. Geronimo Stilton Reporter #5: Barry the Moustache. New York, NY: Papercutz, June 9th 2020. 64 pp.
5 out of 5
Purchase: Amazon
Looking for more fun with the mouse reporter Geronimo Stilton and his family and friends? Here’s another adventure! I love Geronimo Stilton’s stories and characters, they are a lot of clean fun for my daughters who look forward to every new title and want me to read it again and again. This is volume five of the Geronimo Stilton Reporter” series and while earlier I said volume four was my favorite one of the “Geronimo Stilton Reporter” series published by Papercutz volume five now takes first place!
This story involves Geronimo Stilton and his rival The Daily Rat. The story begins with their ace reporter, Simon Squealer, secretly giving Geronimo Stilton a false lead in order to take a picture to embarrass him in their news service so you get the idea of what kind of news organization The Daily Rat must be. But when Simon shows up to ask Geonimo and Geronimo’s family and friends for help, claiming that his editor in chief Sally Ratmousen is kidnapped, they must decide whether to help or whether to tread carefully since it might be the notorious mobster Barry the Moustache behind her disappearance!
There’s delightful twists and turn in the story! I love how the character Barry the Moustache, they made him like a mob boss. And yet it was done in a way that’s still kid and family friendly! The illustrations are awesome as usual and also the dialogues funny and amusing. Don’t miss the end of the book which also has a preview for the next volume!
NOTE: This book was provided to me free by Papercutz and Net Galley without any obligation for a positive review. All opinions offered above are mine unless otherwise stated or implied.
I love children’s books.
I love children’s books too! Especially Christian ones and also family friendly ones from those that are not Christian. I use to only read theology books but have kids changed me lol. How’s everybody’s health this week?
Although I wasn’t a Christian when my children were little I used to read them stories that taught them respect and love for others.
My daughter is clear of Covid. Praise God.
I need to go for a blood test tomorrow as the doctor was not happy with my liver readings last time, so he wants to check again. Hahaha always something .😁.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you.
[…] Edit: If you like this book check out our review of volume 5! […]
I found a book in the library about all kinds of pronouns and LGBT stuff; sometimes its neat to know there’s still some good ol’ family friendly kids book that everyone can appreciate.
I always enjoy these Geronimo Stilton reviews. Thanks! Speaking of illustrated stories, LSH #6 keeps getting pushed out. The release date went from mid-April to early June.
I wonder if they are further pushing it back because Of the virus situation? Were they pushing it back even before the virus right? Been a while since we talked about LSH!
Yeah, they kept pushing LSH releases back prior to the virus. I read yesterday that the #1 comics distributor shut down during the pandemic, but they’re aiming to roll again on May 20th.
Thank you.
You’re welcome grandma Bonnie! Hope it’s not too hot for you today, it’s beginning to heat up in California
Nice day. Windy and 80.:)
Been getting books of this series for my grandchildren’s birthdays.
Aww how old is the age range?
The youngest just turned 1 and the second oldest is 4, so it will be awhile before they see the “Geronimo Stillton” series. I’ve bought the books for my granddaughters who range from 7 to 11. My eldest granddaughter is going to turn 12 on her next birthday, so instead of ‘Geronimo Stillton’ I plan to start her on the “Bell Mountain Book Series”.
Cute book.
