Our “This Sunday” series will be another a Corona Virus edition. For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Call on the Phone with One Another.
This verse is a challenge to apply in the days of virus lockdown and social distancing: “not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.“ (Hebrews 13:16). But let’s try our best to follow this.
One way is to call someone on the phone who goes to your church to talk to them. Who should you call up you may ask?
Is there anyone alone and might lonely? Is there anyone in your church who is elderly and therefore afraid and at risk with this virus? Is there anyone who have medical risks? How about someone that the rest of the church can easily neglect? Or how about someone with mental health issues? Call and just lend a listening ear!

Thanks for the good exhortation, brother! Lord help us to reach out.
Amen I don’t have access to email on my phone but I will check up on it. Is it snowing too where you at?
It actually snowed for a prolonged period on Saturday, but no accumulation because the ground is warmed up. Just checked our 15-day forecast and it appears Saturday’s snow could be the last of it.
Wonderful recommendation. Thank you.
You’re welcome. I imagine there’s a sense of many Believers in Louisiana of wanting the church to open up again?
OH YES. We are opening this Friday.
I think you meant Hebrews 10:25. 😉
Thanks I need to change it when I get to a laptop! How was your church’s Mother’s Day?
It was good! We did not change much, but one of our singers asked if she could sing all the songs to give our Father glory on this day. We continued the Ephesians series as normal.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
Obviously it is better to meet in person, but, during times it is not possible or safe for everyone to gather, we should be reaching out to each other in other ways.
Keep in touch, brothers and sisters!
Daniel
Perfect advice. I will do as you suggest.
Aww. How are you doing Linda with all that’s going on with the virus and shutdown?
I’m sitting here shaking my head and smiling over how to answer your question. More than anything, I am rejoicing. Because my granddaughter and her husband, who live in upstate New York, were diagnosed with covid-19 on April 10. Good Friday. And now they have both recovered, Praise the Lord! Meanwhile, this mom/grandma has been doing a lot of fasting and praying. Praying, I already did a lot of, but I don’t remember ever fasting because — I like to eat! But I started fasting and praying right after I got the news about my granddaughter and — the PEACE that flooded my soul during my fast was astonishing. Praise Jesus!
Other than that, I feel like I am stuck in the movie Groundhog Day. I especially miss corporate praise and worship at church. Sermons I don’t miss so much. But praising God with a church full of worshippers — oh. I can’t wait to do that again.
How are you doing with all of this?
Great idea. We all should connect with family and friends more, not less.
Absolutely true. At times like these we have so many opportunities to show we care. Let us no waste the time given to us, it could make such a big difference in someone’s life.
