Christ dying on the Cross for our sins has many implications for the Christian life. But there’s one that might not be emphasized enough and it’s important for the persecuted church to hear it.
Romans 5:9 stood out to me: “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him”
This verse here teaches that we are justify before God because of Christ’s death which offered His blood as sacrifice. Justified means God declaring believers Legally righteous in God’s eyes. This is not done because we are deserving but because God is gracious. Of course Christ’s death on the cross is what justify us.
The second half of the verse shows us the result of being justified by the blood of Christ: “we shall be saved from the wrath of God.” Amazing. Incredible. By faith in Jesus as the Messiah we will be saved from God’s wrath to come.
Don’t miss the implication of this passage. We are spared by Christ’s death the wrath of God that He has in store for sinners. This fate is deserved by all.
For those persecuted for their faith around the world, if you are reading this, please know the Church in the West has not totally forgotten about you. Some of us pray for you. And pray regularly for you!
Yet in the midst of persecution this is a thought to consider: God does not treat humanity’s sin lightly. That’s why Christ died on the Cross. Yet if God the Father execute justice willingly with His Son how much more so will He execute justice against those who oppose God and persecute His church and saints (believers)?
Suddenly that thought changes everything. One day the persecution of believers will end…and one day God will punish those who persecute and harm believers if they haven’t repented and surrendered to God. As certain as Christianity states Christ died for our sins and alive for His people too, the judgement of God against those who hurt His people will also be certain.
Great point. I totally missed the last part about the “wrath of God”.
Blessings.
Thanks for this. I added “persecuted church” to my prayer list.
Our church has grown in our public prayer life in one way this past year: praying for the believers of the persecuted church. What a blessing technology is that today a small church pastor In one part of the world can be involved with teaching, training, financially supporting and praying in helping our persecuted brethren in another part of the world. And I pray this post here would be found by some of those believers out there as an encouragement. Pray for that too if you can, yeah Tom?
Yes, I’ll be praying, Jimmy.
Thank you, Jim, for this reminder on GOD’s justice and an assurance to our fellow believers who are currently experiencing persecution to “press on.” GOD’s condemnation and hell awaits to those who are like Emperor Nero.
Indeed if they don’t repent we can assure God’s justice will be executed. I’ve been burden to pray for persecuted believers worldwide lately especially those in Asia. How are you guys in PI if I might ask?
Like in the US, where there is a strong Christian presence, here in the Philippines, there is no experience locally, which we can hear of; thanking GOD for this freedom.
Amen!!!
Still praying for you sister, please know that 🙏
Thank you! Bless your heart!!!
Very well said.
Thank you sister; I’m asking since I don’t know: are believers facing any persecution there with Islamic radicals, etc?
I don’t hear of anything as such at the moment. I suppose the covid 19 news is all we hear about for now
People don’t fully understand this. Evil is going forth with no thought .
Reblogged this on Breath of Life prophetic poetry and commented:
Truth so raw at the core that I definitely wanted to reblog this , I think it is evident and extremely important to share.
I reblogged this on my account , I hope many more will read it . 🎼🎼🔥
Thanks for sharing this! I think you commented also the other day, wow how did you find this blog?
I was just looking for truth and came across this blog.. I don’t remember exactly how .. sometimes I just scroll around the site and see if I can find anything that is honest and truthful in bearing fruit , and if I find it does then I follow it so to speak. Anyway have a blessed day 😇🎼
I remember the day I realized that “Vengeance is mine, I will repay” was not just a warning to victims tempted to take revenge, but a promise to them.
Amen!
Good point. I use to think that was not as good as my own revenge (this is when I was younger in the Marines). But now I see how horrifying that is to fall in the hands of a Holy and Righteous and Just God! Thanks for pointing that out sister! Hang in there with the virus lockdown situation!
I had to let go of something very painful that had been done to me (long story, having to do with church politics, and just as well I didn’t get sucked into it). After I gave it to the Lord, He healed me and helped me move on. Now, years later, the person involved is in prison, but not before the Lord spoke to me through one of his sermons, showing me that He can do as He wishes with anyone He wishes. MY job is not to be judge and jury but to trust Him, since He knows way more than I do about everything and everyone.

Hi SlimJim. I’ve seen you around in the blogosphere for quite some time but haven’t properly paid attention to your blog, so thought I would do so today!
One thing I find hard to understand about Christianity is the supposed wrath of God. If God is complete within Himself, why is He so angry — to the extent He needs to punish with such frightening severity?
I feel that God is sovereign over all events (which logically follows if He is omnipresent). I think Christians implicitly acknowledge God is in control of all events, when they pray for Him to plant them in a good church, or to bless their job interview, or their marriage. Such prayers only make sense if God is unfolding the events of our lives.
But if God is unfolding the events of our lives, then we don’t have free will, and therefore we cannot be said to freely sin. Instead, everything we do must be part of God’s plan. Why, then, is God so angry? Does He punish people for their actions, even though He has caused those actions? I’m interested to get your thoughts.
Peace be with you, and God bless you.
Great Joy is found in these Words.
Aww amen! Besides joy that you pointed out I also find it amazing how His words comfort, amen?
Amen.:)
Amen!
Proverbs 11:31 New King James Version (NKJV)
If the righteous will be recompensed on the earth,
How much more the ungodly and the sinner.
Very true.
It’s good that you addressed our persecuted brothers and sisters. I pray that many will read your post and be encouraged.
May we always remember them in our prayers.
Amen. That was very encouraging. How are you doing with everything?
Everything going well by God’s Grace and His faithfulness.
We are planning to go back to our street ministry in a few weeks. Not sure what it will look like with the social distance mandate. They may throw us in jail. 😃
Hope all is well over your side.
We sure live in fascinating times.
God bless you
I was drawn to Hebrews as I read this,
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
