Reading the news can be very depressing these days. Yesterday I stopped following a news just for a break.
But that doesn’t mean Christians shouldn’t read.
We should be reading the Scripture.
What passage has spoken to you in these times? Share with us.
For me today is Romans 5:1-5.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and [b]we exult in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only this, but [c]we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
We see God gives us hope THROUGH trials.

Thank you, Jim, for the link to the studies series on this verse of Romans. GOD bless!
Good reminder. Thanks. (I love the picture, too. ❤ !)
Thanks. I like this picture too, used it for a few posts this year. How are you and your family doing during this time sister?
Doing well! Our church is having a baptism this Sunday – for the third Sunday in a row! (It’s not a big church, either – but I’m praying this continues. 😉 )
How are you doing?
I love this!!!
Thanks! That’s an excellent passage for these times!
You’re welcome! How’s your steps today? I’m still at 1 K but plan to walk soon
RE: steps
9.2K at 6:45. My daily average for June is 9.8K. Yard work’s a big help as I mentioned. Keep steppin’!
Hope in Christ is the only hope that does not disappointment, thank you Jim! I have been reading a Proverb a day and meditating on what is wise vs folly, error, wicked, evil.
Nice! Do you a Proverb according to the day of the month? I imagine then you read Proverbs 25 today?
Yes. I do this a few times a year. I need wisdom now more than ever! How’s your Genesis study?! When I thought about it being the 25th I was thinking wow, six months until Christmas, praise God that He knows what is in store, including US elections!
it’s all there…breaking news
I’ve been reading and pondering Phillipians for quite a while. Rich, deep, challenging for these times. “Think on these things” that passage…(Ya the news is the opposite).
Yes brother, the news is very anxiety provoking – like watching a slow train crash. But God’s word opens up a different horizon to gaze upon. I always love Psalm 119, which exalts the preeminence of Holy Scriptures.
Today I was reading Hebrews 11, about those who were so “commended”, approved, and esteemed by God. Our spiritual heroes always uplift our faith.
Press on Pastor Slimjim!
Great to remember to read on a daily basis.
Amen! How’s your shift tonight?
Good. Kinda tired. Been a long week.
Amen!
Love this: “We see God gives us hope THROUGH trials.”
Thank you. Reading our Bibles is the way to go to feed the soul and grow.
I have committed to read the book of Philippians every night for a month.
I like this verse and made it my prayer:
“Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,”
Philippians 1:12
Awesome. By the way I just prayed for Damian; what a grace of God, I pray the Lord save him. Thank you Crissy for being faithful to go out there, keep me posted yeah?
Thank you for praying for Damian Pastor Jim. I will keep you posted. 🙏

The following scripture has spoken to me during this time of the pandemic.
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
