For today’s post we will tackle the question the Skeptic Annotated Bible asked: How many of Pahathmoab, Jeshua, and Joab’s offspring returned from Babylon?

Here are the answers which the skeptic believes indicate a Bible contradiction:

2812

the sons of Pahath-moab of the sons of Jeshua and Joab, 2,812;” (Ezra 2:6)

2818

the sons of Pahath-moab of the sons of Jeshua and Joab, 2,818;” (Nehemiah 7:11)

(All Scriptural quotation comes from the New American Standard Bible)

A few weeks ago my blog hit a milestone of 150 Alleged Bible Contradictions Answered.  These are posts in response to the listing of Bible contradictions from the Skeptic Annotated Bible website.  Looking back at my writings I thought it was important that for Christians when skeptics bring up Bible contradictions to not waste the opportunity to go deeper studying God’s Word.  Why?  It is so we can know how to answer these objection.  But I want to go deeper: Its also to study God’s Word to love God more and to apply the Word of God in our lives by first being in awe and worship of God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Don’t waste your Bible contradiction.  Here are ten highlights of the devotional thoughts and applications I had looking back at my study of God’s Word while trying to answer these so called Bible contradictions.

Thomas Sowell.  The Quest for Cosmic Justice.  New York, NY: Free Press, February 5, 2002. 224 pp.

5 out of 5

Purchase: Amazon

Have you notice a redefinition of “justice” today among those who are advocates of Social Justice?  Even if you think this doesn’t interests you it is definitely affecting you and costing you directly and indirectly today by the actions of its advocate.  These ideas though are nothing new and over the decades of ministry in college campuses I see these ideas discussed in Academia is now being yelled out aloud literally and the consequences being reaped on the streets of America in 2020.  This book was originally published in 1999 but reading this in 2020 I was blown away how relevant it is twenty one years later.  The observations that the author made and also his refutations is very powerful and I love how factual and data driven the author is.  This is probably the most important book I read in 2020 and I’m surprised why more people don’t know about this book.  Out of the six books I have read from author Thomas Sowell this to me is one of the best book I have read from him and it is not only compelling but reading this book is a training session of how to think soundly in the realm of social sciences, economics and discussions about what is justice.

GO TO PART 56

Point: Presuppositional apologetics as founded by Cornelius Van Til make the point that to attack Christianity ends up being self-destructive to one’s worldview, making things unintelligible and meaningless.  The bigger problem isn’t the “gadfly” of a Christian doctrine; but rather to try to remove it results in more serious problems.

Picture: Here is a news story that illustrate the point of Presuppositional apologetics:

A weekend leisure reading review…because sometimes Pastors also need a break from heavy theological reading!  Finally a Batman review for some of you fans!

I’m going to review volume 11 first before volume 10 since volume 11 is way better than volume 10.

4 out of 5

Here’s some more Batman adventures!  As I mentioned in my review of volume 10 the last volume felt like a dreamy filler but here in this volume it picks up from volume 8 after Batman was knocked out in a plot by Bane.  This volume collects Batman issues number 70-74 and Secret Files #2.
