Our “This Sunday” series will be another a Corona Virus edition. For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the President’s Health and Salvation
1 Peter 2:17 leaped at me recently. It states:
Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
While in the United States we have a president instead of technically a king I think all the politics aside Christians can show honor for the leader of the country by praying for him.
2020 seems to still be able to throw curve balls at us and no doubt since late Thursday night many all know that the President himself has the Corona Virus.
I think in light of 1 Peter 2:17 one of the applications from that is to pray for Donald Trump and his physical health and recovery from the virus. He’s older in age too and is among the demographics that is more at risk with the virus.
At the same time I think its important to pray for Trump spiritually. I personally from hearing him talk about God seems that he might not understand the Gospel as the Bible presents it. So I think its important beyond the politics for believers its important to pray for his salvation and for him spiritually.
[…] Pray for the President’s Health and Salvation […]
I agree wholeheartedly brother that we should pray for our leaders. Invariably our leaders are not Bible believers and/or saved in Christ and thus govern by worldy standards. It is not a matter of popularity (if that was the case both the UK PM and the US President would be in serious trouble), it is about obeying God and praying for our leaders guidance/salvation. This has me wondering whether there are any Christian leaders in government in the world? God bless you and yours brother.
I wonder how many real Christians are in government, even as I think some nonbelievers in government court some interests that Christians are concerned about, I think few actually know the Gospel and believe in, though I think many do speak favorably of religion in general…I wonder if in the UK if most politicians still give some kind of lip service to God?
Theresa May our former PM is a Christian but she is an exceptional case, most politicians are non-religious in the UK. Angela Merkel of Germany is said to be a Christian.

Yes, I fully agree to this prayer.
Thank you for your prayers even though you live in the UK!
We’re all as one. 🙂
Seems like God is hearing our prayers
Regardless of how we see global issues that affects us like which cities and countries are still above sea level in the decades ahead or how stronger and disastrous Hurricanes/Cyclones/Typhoons are, one has to pray for leaders and President Trump is not an exemption. We will pray that he and Melania will recover with full strength. We will also pray that in this storm of his life, he will see GOD and earnestly seek him. Praying for him later tonight as well as for the US.
Thank you for your prayers from the Philippines. How were the sermons you listened to this morning?
Very satisfied with the sermons, Jim, it answered salient questions as it was a concoction of sermons from Stanley, MacArthur, Piper, and GotQuestions on salvation, sanctification, and questions if one loses salvation. GOD bless you and your family!

We are praying for him. So very important. Thanks for highlighting this for us.
We are praying for President Trump and his wife, for their health and salvation. I agree with you that from his own words he doesn’t appear to understand the Gospel. I’m not trying to be uncharitable, but I point out that the president has set a very poor example with regards to public health safety precautions – PPE and social distancing – during this pandemic. I realize that a lot of that behavior was motivated by trying to maintain an image of “normalcy,” but it also encouraged millions of Americans to not take proper precautions.
I am encouraged to hear you pray for him. Side note prayer request: can you pray for my strength as I taught a lot this weekend and counseled and I have a lot ahead of me today and I’m exhausted?
I’m praying for you, brother. Hope your batteries get recharged soon!
I think there are many at the head of our country that this could apply to. Former Vice President Biden and Speaker Pelosi, to name two, both profess a faith, but their actions, policies, and words make me believe that they don’t understand the Gospel. We cannot forget that salvation is not a partisan issue.
Praying always!
Praying.
Thank you for your prayers; a tangent: anything sister we can pray for you?
Please pray for Paula and her family, she is ever close to going home to Jesus. I am praying for you and your sermon today!!!!
Praying .
Thank you for your prayers Crissy; side note can you pray for my strength for ministry think I might have overworked this week and weekend
I will be praying pastor Jim.
Thanks for praying; anything I can pray for you?
I will be having a procedure in hospital tomorrow. 🙏
Only our God knows the heart of any man but it is our duty to offer prayers for all. Especially when we consider that time may be very short.
Praying for the President along with all whose lives have been impacted directly and indirectly by this pandemic. God will continue to hear our prayers, minus the political rhetoric.
Its spiritually sick to ask for prayer for someones salvation when they confess salvation. Judging his salvation and back loading or front loading it into a call for prayer is sickness. Not spiritual health. gossip and slander are one of the 7 things God hates.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
I would also add that our older president has surrounded himself with many false teachers, so we should pray all the more for both his health and salvation.
Daniel
Sounds like nonsense to me. If you are going to slander people. Please say their names. Who around him are false teachers, anti-christ?
“His pastor” and one of his aides at the White House is Paula White, the Name-It-and-Claim-It prosperity preacher. He admits to getting advice and prayers from other such preachers, suggested by White, such as Kenneth Copleand, Robert Morris, and Mark Burns, all of whom at best sugarcoat sin (or refuse to teach about sin) and have been on his advisory board since basically the beginning of his term. He has attended prosperity churches since his youth, and he unrepentantly and unnecessarily starts quarrels and boasts.
Does he have some decent pastors/leaders around him? Yes, and we pray he listens more to them. He admits to his preference for prosperity preachers, as evidenced by his choice in pastor and personal advisor. Has Trump done many good things? Absolutely, but his overall behavior shows more interest in promoting himself rather than conforming to Christ, even when confronted. “Good deeds are good for business.”
watch.
At what time stamp? I don’t want to waste time.
In the mean time, do you concede that Paula White is speaking heresy by very definition?
Its just a rally of love and support happening right now in front of Walter Reed. 1 John 4:7-8
That’s great and everything, but I don’t see how it addresses my response to your charges.
I have no charges. I support a Man who as romans 13 suggests is given a job by God. And I believe his testimony while not mine is his. Its not for me to Judge.
Some are very rude, they back end and front end statements and in his way he is facing that head on. good for him. And if James Dobson and Franklin Graham are on his side, Me from a distance need to back off.
And, if we want to join the other side, then we will have a Marxist style of Gov’t harming churches. Trump may only be the pizza man, but he is delivering, and only time will tell if what he says is who he is. His support for Christianity is huge. And that does not come from someone against God or bitter against God.
Brother when I said I’m concern for his salvation it was not an attack on his policy and I think most people commenting are largely Conservative Christians and many of them are voting for Trump. I myself am just concern with some of the things he’s said concerning spirituality that reflect not an understanding of the Gospel. I appreciate what he’s done against Abortion and also for religious liberties and also his administration’s concern for religious freedom worldwide which we as Christians can rejoice over. There’s other things too that I can’t think of right off the top of my head, but even with that said I am concern if he understands what the Gospel mean. Note I’m not commenting about his faults and flaws as Christians have those too, but about his understanding of the Gospel which is needed to believe in the Gospel. If you want me to go into details let me know as I don’t want to give details if you feel that I’m doing that to intend to attack our President. Also just in case, I know you are saying this, I’m not a Marxist and my family have opposed Marxism and have had family members be killed by them and we have a long history of fighting Commies.
no you are not concerned for his salvation. There is nothing you can do from here, and suggesting he is not saved when he has said he is and other people like Dobson says he is, is just hate speech against a Christian. Lets say he is 4 years old, its not right to try and harm him by saying negative things about his Christianity. That is the Job of the devil. And when The Disciples saw others they wanted to send fire, and they were wrong. It doesn’t have to be exactly the way you think it should be. And many on that day will walk up with a tree in their eye and will say let me in and will not go in. With man it is impossible to enter. but for God all things are possible.
It wasn’t you walking across the white house lawn with a bible in your hand it was trump.
You are conflating things. Having concern for and legitimate doubt of someone’s salvation is not inconsistent with support for the same person.
You wrote: I have no charges. Really? So what do you consider accusing the OP of “gossip and slander” and Daniel here of “slander”?
You wrote: And I believe his testimony while not mine is his. Its not for me to Judge. Then perhaps you shouldn’t “judge” here? You say, you ‘believe [Trump’s] testimony’, which is not the same thing as showing me his true confession of Christian faith. I’ve looked, and I don’t find such. Given that you were so confident in your stance, I figured surely you had absolute proof at the ready. Or are YOU the one making baseless charges? If you cannot provide proof, you should apologize to this commenter Daniel M. Clem and, most especially SLIMJIM the OP.
Now, to be clear, Trump most certainly supports Christianity, and I greatly appreciate that; but, this not necessarily indicative of his true Christian faith. Support for Christianity does not mean confession of faith.
Moreover, given the evidence provided regarding your request to identify false teachers, you should acknowledge and/or take your pointing finger elsewhere.
Thanks Craig for your input while I was doing things with church
Sure thing!
It seems to this reader that it is you who is the one sowing discord (Proverbs 6:19b). The way I read this comment and the OP is concern for someone’s true salvation—not a clear judgment on the person. Though none are perfect, evidence of true conversion is consistent fruit via life by the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-16). Now I DO find that President Trump adheres to basic Judeo-Christian values, so don’t misunderstand me. He seems to be sincere in his pro-life stance, e.g. And I absolutely support for this President.
Can you provide evidence of Trump’s confession of Christian faith?
False teacher name? Paula White. Proof? There are legion, but here’s one:
PAULA WHITE DENIES JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONE BEGOTTEN SON
Larry Huch(ster) says “Jesus is NOT the only begotten Son of God…” while Paula White nods in agreement, going on to say “He’s the firstfruit.” That’s RANK heresy.
Donald Trump is an imperfect man—as are we all—but he lacks discernment as evidenced by the ones he’s entrusted as spiritual advisors.
As an aside, though I think your criticism is misguided, the word you are looking for is libel, not slander.
Agreed. I wish the president and First Lady, as well as all others around them who have tested positive, a speedy recovery. Also agreed, we should pray for our Commander and Chief spiritually. Blessings.
God is gracious and sounds like the President’s health is heading in a good direction! He is merciful

Praying. 🙏
In prayer.
Thank you for your prayers, our President needs it and I hope he gets well really soon and be healthy and be ready for the next debate. Hope you are ok with your health and if you need me to pray for you, let me know Maw Maw!
Good point! Will do, Jim!
Thanks! I just prayed for your health too brother
Thanks Jim! Still waiting for my consultation appointment.
Yes, we’re told to pray for our leaders, no matter who they are.(I believe Nero was Emperor of Rome when that Scripture was written!) I pray for President Trump every night. In fact, I still pray for Barack Obama… force of habit, I guess.
Wow you still pray for Obama? That’s commendable! That must mean you have prayed for him for what, 112 plus years?
Yep, since I was a little kid. 😉
[…] series will be another a Corona Virus edition. Last week for this series I posted “The Church during the days of Corona Virus: Pray for the President’s Health and Salvation.” It has generated a lot of discussion. This springs from last week’s post I […]
If you think that holding a Bible in your hand makes you a Christian, or proves that you are, maybe you don’t understand the gospel either, or politics, for that matter. People like Dobson support him because he “is against” abortion. That also does mean he is a Christian.
Well said sister
Hi! I really like your post, especially the way you describe it in detail.
