Our “This Sunday” series will be another a Corona Virus edition. For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the Philippines affected by Typhoon.
CNN head this headline: “Philippines evacuates nearly 1 million as world’s strongest typhoon of 2020 approaches.” Imagine the strongest typhoon (hurricanes for the Pacific) of 2020 is happening right now while we read this. The news article states this:
Typhoon Goni, with 215 kph (133 miles) sustained winds and gusts of up to 265 kph (164 mph), will bring violent winds and strong rains, state weather and disaster officials said.It is among the strongest typhoons to hit the Philippines since Haiyan, which killed more than 6,300 people in 2013.“We are having a hard time with COVID-19, and then here comes another disaster,” Senator Christopher Go, the top aide of President Rodrigo Duterte, told a virtual news conference.
Wow 133 miles wind. I think its worth praying for people in these areas affected by the storm. Also pray for the people’s recovery from these affected areas. With that strong of a wind I can’t imagine homes being destroyed by ripped roof, things crashing on top of houses, flooding, etc.
Blogger Gersom Clark is from the Philippines and we should pray for him as well. Yesterday at my church’s youth group we prayed for the Philippines too and no doubt today’s prayer meeting at my church we will be praying also.
Pray also for people to come to know Him too at this time.
Amen! Praying for Kent and the Philippines.
I know you are already praying sister! How was your trip yesterday?
We decided to go for a hike in the woods yesterday instead of being near people. How was youth time yesterday?
Thanks! I am praying for Kent and all Filipinos. I just went to Google News and see the country has been hit very hard.
I just found out about the typhoon . I have a friend there. Waiting to hear she is ok.
Praying !
Let me know if you hear from her yeah? Encouraged to see many believers pray from outside the Philippines.
I heard from her this morning. Praise God she is ok .
Thanks for the call to prayer. We are all praying.
Have a blessed Sunday. God is with you.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
2020 is rough all around. “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray.” (James 5:13)
Typhoons (hurricanes) are serious enough without adding pandemic restrictions. Let us pray that any suffering can lead to repentance and deep faith in Christ, as well as for strength and quick recovery. Even for miraculous moments of salvation from danger and healing in Jesus’ name!

Thank you very much, Jim, for all the prayers and the times you initiated prayers for those affected by this Super Typhoon Goni/Rolly. I am truly grateful and thanking GOD for your kindness. Your prayers were heard by GOD that His hand is evident on the lives that were spared. Although the reports on the ground on damages, destruction, and casualties are still coming in, many were spared from its ferocity. The center of the Typhoon did not pass through some provinces, cities, and Metro Manila. A case in point is a subdivision where there are 300 plus households, and there houses were submerged by lahar and boulders coming from the volcano. This is the province of Albay were the Typhoon has made its second landfall. With the destruction of houses, all were spared except 3 and 3 is still a big number but in secular terms, it is a miracle. GOD, in His providence, spared many! We are grateful to GOD. It is still early to get the entire picture of destruction but I can truly say, GOD hears all your prayers and has spared many!
So glad you’re ok, brother!
Thank you Mandy! GOD bless you and your family! 🙂
Thank you for taking the time in the midst of a storm to write this update and for others to get a report from you here to fuel their prayers for the Philippines. I got to watch the first episode of the documentary series Connected with the one on surveillance and thought of you how the internet has made believers connected! Thanks for the recommendation. Please be safe and get a good rest. You’ve done a good job reporting and covering the news for all of us about the Typhoon! Our church service today we will pray for the Island and all those still in the path of the Typhoon.
Thank you very much too, Jim! I really appreciated it. Looking into the news and the Situational Report for the Typhoon right now, and I can see GOD’s hand that so many are really spared dispite destructiveness of Goni/Rolly and the destruction of property, livelihood and lifelines. Grateful to GOD for His mercy, love, and sovereign will. Connected has few more interesting episodes like clouds and digits. I had 9 hours of sleep today compensating for the 3 hours yesterday. I’m still updating the pictures part of the document. Typhoon Goni is heading for Vietnam, who days ago, experienced Typhoon Molave’s destructiveness; we will be praying for them. GOD bless you, your family, and your ministry praying team! And, I’m looking forward to your podcast , let me know how I can be of service. 🙂👍
Wow, that’s quite a testimony. God bless you, Gersom. Praying relief workers and believers like you can shine His light and bring others to Him, even (especially) in these hard times.
Thank you Seeking Divine Perspective, for your prayers! GOD bless you and your family!

I will definitely be praying for the Phiilipines. I know what it is like to be battered by a hurricane that magnitude. Hurricane Irma was 185mph! But God! Thanks for sharing
Wow you went through the ordeal with Hurricane Irma? Crazy that must have been crazy Beverley. I bet you have some stories to tell! Have you written a blog post on it? Feel free to share links. Thank you for your prayers by the way! And thank you for your comments on my blog!
It was traumatic to say the least. But God protected us through it all. Irma took all our worldly possessions but our lives were spared by the mercy of God. I wrote several short devotional after the storm pass and shared some pictures because we had no electricity nor internet. I will return to them and share the links.
Wow. It’s so easy to let the corona virus over shadow other emergencies in the world.
In prayer.
Thanks for your prayers that means a lot knowing you have survived and gone through many hurricanes yourself this year. Thank you for your prayers Maw Maw!
Pastor Jim, thanks for sharing this need for prayer.
