Even though I am not in leadership I have found the series both enjoyable and edifying Jim. This table of contents is a useful idea, enabling easy re-reading of the chapters of what would be a good book. Thank you and God bless you brother.
Thank you for following along with this series. I appreciate it and also your comments along the way. How is your throat doing today?
A bit better than yesterday thankfully, cheers brother.
Thanks for this excellent series! I appreciate all of the hard work you put into it and the Biblical counsel and practical applications.
You’re welcome! This was an immensely sanctifying series to work on for my own personal walk and growth. Any more news about the radio company?
RE: Leadership series
Every pastor, elder, and deacon would benefit by carefully studying through these outlines. I couldn’t help but think of our old IFB pastor when I read through this series. He was the poster boy for how NOT to lead at church. But it wasn’t just him, there was a lot of that going around within the IFB.
RE: Harris
Thanks for asking! I don’t think I communicated it clearly enough on Tuesday, but Harris extended a job offer on Monday and I accepted. I found out yesterday my tentative start date is Jan. 11th. This morning we caught the perimeter of the big snow storm that slammed the east coast and I had to drive 60 miles away for a pre-employment drug test. It was a brutal ride.
How does your day look?
This has be so very helpful. Blessings to you for the great insights you have offered.
[…] Godly Leadership Series: Table of Contents […]
Looking at the TOC, it has been 3 months since you edified us on Godly Leadership. We have the guidance now in cultivating it and the model examples of JESUS and His followers, should the occasion arises; whether in the church or the secular world. Thank you very much for this, pastor! We pray that the HOLY SPIRIT will guide us to do it right and convict us when we fall short as we exercise Godly leadership. Ultimately, it is all GOD the FATHER’s will, plan, and purpose for us, the people that we lead, and the institution (e.g. church) we work for. Thank you also for the 7 lecture sessions on the topic. GOD bless you Jim, Nancy, and the kids!
You’re welcome and it has been 3 months, time flew fast! Which lesson was the first one you began attending with us live?
Probably, the “Motivating Others” was the first Bible Study session. Thank you.
Saved this series, brother! This has given Nathan and I good discussion. As a retired 1SG Nathan’s life is centered around leadership. He gets frustrated that “leadership” is such a buzz word/concept in the church today. I had some leadership courses in Sem but many of them centered on theory and approaches (formal, informal, direct, indirect, transformational, servant etc). I stand by the premise that no one can be a godly leader or effective leader unless they are first following Christ. You have made that evident in this series that submission to Christ and being under His Word is critical.
On another note. I am frustrated! WordPress has deleted my saved posts. In the app search bar I have typed “The 3cs of walking with God: Psalm 16” I really loved that post! However, I don’t understand why when I typed in Psalm 16 it didn’t come up. I have tried this search with the whole title, half title etc, with domain for truth and veritas domain and it does not appear. It is a crime that if someone were to search for Psalm 16 your post doesn’t appear in the list!
Sounds like you and Nathan talked quite about about this topic! That’s so neat to hear! I say amen to your statement: “ stand by the premise that no one can be a godly leader or effective leader unless they are first following Christ.” Many years ago we had some multi level marketing people (pyramid like scheme marketing) attend our church and really wanted to know about leadership and wanted to teach others but they didn’t know Christ. But they didn’t know Christ. It was also a stumbling block for them, the idea Christ died. One even ask if that means Christ was unsuccessful and asked it sincerely. I met with the leader of the group with my wife weekly to explain the Gospel for a whole year before in frustration with not understanding why Christ had to die they left. They are quite materially successful but didn’t understand why in their view I as a pastor was poor, or poor compared to them. The prosperity Gospel was their thing and what they wanted to hear. I think most involved with MLM are kind of sad and have a hinderance with leading others especially with sincerity given how they see relations only in terms of business and profit and sales, even if they talk about personal growth and leadership.
Also Sad to hear WordPress acting weird. Were you able to find that study on Psalm 16? Google use to be kind to us and gave us a lot of views with searches on Psalm 16, I think we still have a small and steady stream monthly.
I can access Psalm 16 online for sure; however, I can’t save it in the App, arg! The prosperity gospel is a lie from the pit of hell and it irritates me SO much! There’s so much wrong in today’s marketing and the fact that churches want to market and brand themselves like the world equally irritates me as well!! I know it would be 3am in the Philippines; however, would you mind if I shared your code with Kent? I know he’s not a youth but I just thought I’d ask. Nathan is SO thankful for Kent! We got a pretty snow storm yesterday and this morning, instead of complaining like usual, we made some videos for Kent! Seriously, you, Kent and Tom have been SUCH a bright light to me in this crazy year that’s 2020!
This seems worthwhile to bookmark!
Good idea
Yikes! If I have to live up to all these, now I know why they would never let me back on session. Then again I know of few that would qualify. My biggest problem on session was dealing with frustration.
That is a hard one: dealing with frustration! That’s true…by definition. Thank you brother for checking out and liking the various outline posts in this series! Now that I learn you live in PA, I heard PA faced quite a snow storm, hope you guys are ok?
We are fine. We got about a foot, although 9 inches at the airport was official. If we had not just purchased an SUV, we’d be stuck. Early in the season, so plenty of salt once you get to the paved streets. We are in the Pittsburgh area, and the other side of the Alleghenies got hammered. The mountains shielded us a bit.
This is better than secular leadership workshops. Excellent material
