No doubt 2020 has been crazy and for now 2021 still looks the same as 2020. I thought I share portions of my ongoing “This Sunday” series specifically the ones that are unique for our time as a way of starting the year strong in the things of God even as our world is crazy. I plan to continue these and there’s some other ideas I have in mind and Lord willing God gives me practical ideas to encourage God’s people.

Thank you for this compilation, Jim! This is another page we can bookmark/saved if ever we want to recall 2020, count all our blessings, and how we blessed others by heeding your call. Sunday blessings to you, Nancy, and your kids! Wait, this is Communion Sunday right? It has been a while since we partake it.
You’re welcome and good point about bookmarking this. This normally should be our communion Sunday. Funny this Sunday I actually will have a online meeting with members after service to talk about plans for how do we have communion even with zoom. I’m thinking of individual order and dropping it off to members to prepare for February’s communion…but we shall see what others say. I do miss communion I think you do too?
That is a wise approach to empower/solicite from the members, pastor! This is the new reality and I have not thought that common union will be online someday. Regardless of the size of each individual cup, the blessing and commemoration are important. Well, not that much but it is strange not to partake from it for almost a year.
Amen: “ Regardless of the size of each individual cup, the blessing and commemoration are important.” You are right it is strange to not partake it for almost a year…I pray this can be over soon
This has been a great series. Thanks for the wisdom, insight and practical advise you have been offering.
Blessings on this stunning day in paradise.
Thank you for these pastor Jim. Thank you for always praying for ways to encourage God’s people.
Your site is such a huge blessing.
[…] Things you can do on Church on Sunday in 2021 — The Domain for Truth […]
Your faithfulness for encouraging and shepherding God’s people truly is from the heart of God! Praying for you, Nancy and kiddos!
Thanks for the encouragement and prayer! Have a blessed Lord’s day! What is the temperature like for you guys today?
It’s 36 degrees alternating between rain and sleet. Awful! Winter truly is a product of the Fall!
What are you preaching on today?!
Thanks for this series of encouragements and exhortations during all of the turmoil of 2020 involving the C-19 pandemic and the political and social upheaval! We can get caught up in the frenzy or we can be an encouragement to others.
True as you said we “ can get caught up in the frenzy or we can be an encouragement to others.” May we be an encouragement and a light to nonbelievers! What’s the weather like for you guys?
Amen!
Currently 36F and what’s coming down is halfway between rain and snow. We walked the neighborhood roads today because the rough gravel made it much safer for walking than the smooth and icy cemetery roads.
Hope everyone was blessed by the services today!
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
[To only mildly misapply Scripture …]
“… it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught …” (Luke 1:3-4)
Blessings,
Daniel
[…] Things you can do on Church on Sunday in 2021 […]
Soloman told us there is nothing new under the sun…but we have to pray some things will improve in 2021.Hang in there…god is not through just yet.
Amen! Hang in there sister and encouraged you’re a light on WordPress in these dark days. Seriously. Have a blessed Lord’s Day. What’s the temperature like for you guys?
57 high low 39 tonight…could be worse but still feels cold due to dampness
I ,in my youth loved cold winter weather, Not so much as I age. lol.
My wife and I had to miss services this morning because of possible virus exposure. Turned out to be a false alarm. Blessings to you this new year. J.
Glad to hear it’s a false alarm! For Lutherans is it permissible for some areas with a high number of the virus to temporarily do zoom? I’m thinking of LA area with some of the urban area that’s high count. Not attacking just curious.
A lot of Lutheran churches have been (and still are) using Zoom, Facebook, and other media to conduct virtual services or to connect with members (and guests) who do not feel safe coming to services. And some have had drive-in services to share the Lord’s Supper. We do what we can with the resources and the limitations we have. But where I attend, the “crowd” is so small–and the average age is so high–that it’s easier to suspend a service and connect via email than to try to create a virtual gathering. J.
Amen.
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Amen and Amen.
You have a lot of good ideas here, Jim. Thanks for sharing your inspiration.
Happy 2021. 😊
Annie
Thank you Annie for reading this. I think this New Year unlike other New Years people are bracing themselves. Happy New Year sister and God bless you for being a light which is refreshing for a time like these and the people are confused and lost…
Thanks so much for the encouragement, Jim. Times when people are confused and lost are golden opportunities to share with them what they have always been looking for, they just never knew it until now. 😏
Jim, I look forward to this weekly post. I appreciate how you challenge fellow believers.
