For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Listen to and pray for someone’s fears.
I write this post in a week that many in the United States have a lot of concerns and you can see it on social media. So this might be timely and quite meaningful.
Philippians 4:6 states “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
We must pray. Sometimes others need some extra help of others ministering to them with their worries.
So begin first by hearing them out. How do you initiate? Ask what you can pray for. Or even more directly: What have you been most concern with lately?
Listen. Really listen. Let them talk and you don’t say anything for the first few minutes. Encourage when you speak. Then afterwards ask “Mind if we pray about it?”
Then pray. Pray to minister to the person. Pray to God biblically. Pray with compassion for the other person and passion for God. Invite the person to pray to if you can. But you should definitely pray.
Don’t waste your Sunday. Don’t waste your Sunday today.
Amen Jim! As His children our best work is done on our knees.
Wow that’s so quotable; is that original or someone else said that?
As far as my memory goes (about two minutes!) it is His through my typing Jim. 😁
Hey, Jimmy and Alan! I hope you don’t mind if I share! I have always liked, “Fight all your battles on your knees and you win every time” Dr. Charles F. Stanley.
Go for it Mandy…it belongs to God anyhow sister.😉
Here is a proper quote that is quite similar:
To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees. —Billy Graham
Our pastor this morning preached on prayer and how important it is for God’s children to pray .
Thank you pastor Jim .
What a timely sermon topic. Thanks for sharing that with us. We must indeed pray. As usual if you have prayer requests let me know
Thank you so much.
The same if you have prayer requests please let me know .

Following this call of action to listen to and pray “with compassion” Jim! Not just for the week but on the succeeding weeks too. May we trust, pray to GOD more, and surrender to His sovereign will and purpose. We must have faith. As JESUS said, “which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span?” (NASB) Still, we must encourage and add GOD’s promises and assurances that He is in control. Besides, this is just a transient world; transient for Heaven. Blessings to you and your family!
Those words of Jesus is powerful. Powerful for this time. My mom is not a believer and hates Christianity but with our country in chaos she read Matthew 6 of Jesus’ words about worry and was finding it compelling. I pray for her salvation with those words you shared. Jesus capture a great truth that you shared
Praying for your mom, Jim! Salvation is GOD’s perfect timing too and He is patient, so your mom is right now, on the right track of spiritual hunger. Prayer is the best at this time. Who knows, this will be a good testimony for your mom i.e. when JESUS knocks on the door indeed.
Amen.
This is quite possibly, one of the most important posts that you’ve authored Jim. I think we all have unanswered questions, especially about what has just transpired and I’m not sure if any of us can really handle the unvarnished truth. Complexities and complicities permeate what has happened to levels that I suspect, few of us comprehend, including myself. But we know Who does and the ultimate truth is Jesus, when all is said and done. And Jesus told us to fear not, that He had conquered the world, and I may not understand all the ramifications of that statement that He made, but I can believe Him and I can know that He has. And prayer to Him for forgiveness, peace and guidance for our path ahead, surely lies in His hands. Blessings.
Thanks for your comment. What little is revealed and the little we do know, little that we have, is quite unvarnished and ugly already. This is true of what is done by extreme right and extreme left. I don’t know it all either. But clearly we see depravity all around. And things unimaginable a year ago this day is now happening or in the realm of possibility and plausibility these days. No doubt everyone has their concerns. I think asking for prayers of what are people’s concern and fears goes a long way more than many realize. Thank you for your prayers and prayer for a country that is at such a violate point in history right now…
You are my brother, if you hurt, I hurt and right now there are many that are hurting, in many countries. Your country achieved what few others achieved, so any loss is a great loss. Blessings brother.
Wow! Prayer is our answer. God is listening. God is God and God is in control.
You are so right. We MUST pray.

Thanks for sharing Jim. When I have prayed for someone, taking time to listen first brings an open door in asking to pray for someone.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
And to go with this thought is the Verse of the Day in the Bible app (and my VerseD for tomorrow), Hebrews 10:24-25:
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Daniel
Thanks for this timely exhortation. Believers are becoming very agitated over recent events. There are a few bloggers here at WordPress who think it is their “ministry” to stoke the anxiety. I get angry with the provocateurs but I should be praying for them.
It’s a hard time and one must be careful to distinguish speaking about what’s factually horrible and fear mongering. I think for me the litmus test is if Christ and the Gospel ever come through too in posts and comments. How did your day go yesterday at work?
Yesterday was rough, being the first day. Doing better today. On break right now, headed home at 6:30. I’m going to be doing 🛋 duty Monday thru Thursday. Hope your having a good day!
I was pondering your earlier comment.
RE: the litmus test is if Christ and the Gospel ever come through too in posts and comments.
There are Christian nationalist provocateurs/agitators here at WordPress who are constantly conspiracy-mongering while also sprinkling in some Gospel. This gives them the ring of “authenticity” in the minds of their Christian followers even though what they advocate (hatred and violence) contradicts the Gospel that they tack on for legitimacy sake.
So in those cases, the mixing of the Gospel with political extremism and conspiracy-mongering gives legitimacy in the minds of some to their extremist views.
It’s not apples to apples, but the ecumenical crusaders (Graham, Colson, Packer) also referenced the Gospel in their appeals for compromise with Rome. That gave them an air of legitimacy and many evangelicals were subsequently deceived.
Prayer is a lifestyle. May our Triune God give us attentive ears to hear the hearts and minds of those around us. May we grow and depend more on Jesus and not on this world. Love and blessings to you Nancy and kiddos!!!
Amen! Prayer is even more an important lifestyle in a post 2020 world. Praying like never before…and yet have so much to go in working on my prayer life. Forgot to respond to your comment yesterday that it is a good and loving act you got Tom a book. I think we can say…you have the gift of giving!! Thanks for the Stanley quote too
Thanks! I hope Papa Tom likes it!! What did you preach on today?! Will you be uploading your Ephesians series?
If people did this more we would have a more understanding society.
Amen.
I think this is appropriate after a crazy start of the year. How are you?
Very good. I am feeding on God’s promises.
Amen. So very well spoken. This is so true, and encouraging. Blessings.

What’s up?
I found this article very interesting…please read!
Do you remember the blockbuster hit film The Matrix that was released in 1999? You may not know this, but it has deep spiritual implications concerning the times we are living in and Bible prophecy.
It tells a story of how these “agents” are trying to turn us into machines. We are closer then ever before for this to become a reality when they cause us to receive an implantable microchip in our body during a time when physical money will be no more.
You may have seen on NBC news concerning the implantable RFID microchip that some people are getting put in their hand to make purchases, but did you know this microchip matches perfectly with prophecy in the Bible?
“He (the false prophet who deceives many by his miracles) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name…
You also may have heard of the legendary number “666” that people have been speculating for possibly thousands of years on what it actually means. This article shares something I haven’t seen before, and I don’t think there could be any better explanation for what it means to calculate 666. This is no hoax. Very fascinating stuff!
…Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666″ (Revelation 13:16-18 NKJV).
GOD is sending out His end time warning:
“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ‘If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name'” (Revelation 14:9-11).
In the Islamic religion they have man called the Mahdi who is known as their messiah of whom they are waiting to take the stage. There are many testimonies from people online who believe this man will be Barack Obama who is to be the biblical Antichrist based off dreams they have received. I myself have had strange dreams about him like no other person. So much so that I decided to share this information.
He came on stage claiming to be a Christian with no affiliation to the Muslim faith…
“In our lives, Michelle and I have been strengthened by our Christian faith. But there have been times where my faith has been questioned — by people who don’t know me — or they’ve said that I adhere to a different religion, as if that were somehow a bad thing,” – Barack Obama
…but was later revealed by his own family members that he indeed is a devout Muslim.
So what’s in the name? The meaning of someones name can say a lot about a person. God throughout history has given names to people that have a specific meaning tied to their lives. How about the name Barack Obama? Let us take a look at what may be hiding beneath the surface…
“And He (Jesus) said to them (His disciples), ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven'” (Luke 10:18).
In the Hebrew language we can uncover the meaning behind the name Barack Obama.
Barack, also transliterated as Baraq, in Hebrew is: lightning
baraq – Biblical definition:
From Strongs H1299; lightning; by analogy a gleam; concretely a flashing sword: – bright, glitter (-ing, sword), lightning. (Strongs Hebrew word H1300 baraq baw-rawk’)
Barak ‘O’bamah, The use of bamah is used to refer to the “heights” of Heaven.
bamah – Biblical definition:
From an unused root (meaning to be high); an elevation: – height, high place, wave. (Strongs Hebrew word H1116 bamah baw-maw’)
The day following the election of Barack Obama (11/04/08), the winning pick 3 lotto numbers in Illinois (Obama’s home state) for 11/5/08 were 666.
Obama was a U.S. senator for Illinois, and his zip code was 60606.
Seek Jesus while He may be found…repent, confess and forsake your sins and trust in the savior! Jesus says we must be born again by His Holy Spirit to enter the kingdom of God…God bless!
