For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Remind someone what the Lord’s Supper Mean.
For our upcoming Lord’s Day today we will be doing Communion. I don’t know if your church is doing communion or not and I know these are not easy days with Corona Virus in 2021 when I write this and I know different churches will do Communion differently. Certainly our church have to figure this out in creative ways. But I think whether or not you guys are doing Communion it is still worthwhile to talk about to someone about what the Lord’s Supper means.
Matthew 26:26-28 states “Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.”
I love that passage. Jesus speaks here and instituted the Lord’s Supper for the Church. For you and for I. It is something done which we should thank God (v.27). It is something that shows Christ has died for sins. It preaches the Gospel to us, that Christ’s work on the Cross can forgive our sins. Oh the precious blood of Christ!
If you church is doing Communion today, you can simply tell someone you are thankful for the Lord’s Supper; that you are thankful for the Gospel. If its a nonbeliever you are talking to, drive the point home by preaching the Gospel. If its a believer encourage them with this truth still.
If your church is not doing Communion you can say to someone that you miss Communion. Or if you haven’t Communion in a while because of your church situation you can share to someone you appreciate the privilege of partaking of the Lord’s Supper in the past. And share what it means.
Jim, did you intend on adding an “s” to the title word “mean”?
Same thing with the first line of the body of text reference “means” versus “”mean”.
You probably just went to bed, not to worry, no big thing, if you change it now it will mess up any reposts. Blessings.
Thanks for the grammatical correction as I struggle with that. I was also very sleepy than usual writing this. So I was falling asleep writing this after a night of sermon prep. I’m going to modify the title but not add an s for the html. Blessings to you this Lord’s Day Bruce. How are you doing?
We’re doing OK, all things considered. Did you get enough down time? Let me know how you are doing when you get a chance. Blessings to you and yours Jim.

Our church is celebrating communion. We have been using packets that we place on the seats for people to open themselves. Praise God for our ultimate communion with Him because of our Union with Christ through the cross!
We are using a prepackaged communion set today. For your church is if one with a cup and also bread element wrapped up in one?
Yes
Thanks for the good news about the Lord’s supper. What a wonderful word to start the day with.
Blessings.
Aren’t we told to do this to remember. We simple folk sometime forget what is most important.
I need that reminder too! Grateful for the Gift of the Lord’s Supper reminding us what Christ has done! Have a blessed Lord’s Day Beverly! May it be about Him and not the Super Bowl amen?
Normally no Super bowl but this one may have some side stuff worth watching.
Pastor Jim, I have missed participating in the Lord’s Supper. Online worship has pretty much eliminated this sacrament experience. I appreciate your discussion. God’s grace and peace lights the way to living through the elements of Christ’s broken body and shed blood.
Reblogged this on a simple man of God.
We have taken communion once in church since COVID. One church I know had people take communion at home with online service. I confess, I don’t know what I think of that. Nathan has no issue with it at all, but I have struggled with this concept!
Did that church provided the elements for the Lord supper even as it’s being done at home online during streaming service? For the one time you had communion since Covid began was the communion done as normal or with Covid modifications? Genuinely wondering how other churches do things in these times!
Home communion people used their own bread and juice but all took it to there’d. At the church we took communion with the bread attached to the cup. Last weekend our church had communion but we weren’t there because of the snow. Nathan and I used bread that and water here. It was weird. Nathan made the point that they’re symbols and we were talking with the church so it’s not irreverent or judgement. I don’t want to be legalistic I also communion is a big deal. Thank God He knows our hearts and motives!

Amen. Thank you.
You’re welcome! Have a blessed Lord’s Day afternoon and later evening! Christ’s gift of His blood and body to die for our sins is such an act of Grace, may He be celebrated more than the Super Bowl
I agree. But the Flesh is wicked.
We are not back to church yet but watch on TV or online or listen or read what we can to keep us God centered. I miss everything about church but especially communion. Our church has some pews we kneel at that encircles out altar. It is very communal….very nice. I always get a bit sentimental at communion when I remember what Jesus did for us.
I think I get sentimental too thinking of what Christ has done for us. I am going to change my whole sermon today last minute to focus on something that warm our affections and love the Lord in light of communion, if you can pray that it will bless his people and grip those not yet saved to see the Love of Jesus and respond.
I will be praying for your sermons to touch hearts and minds towards Jesus and the Love he has to share.
Great post !! Here is my post on Communion…
Blessings in Christ, bruce 🙂

Thanks for the good exhortation! My wife and I need to have communion together!
Aww. Can’t wait for this virus to be over. How is your shift for today?
Thanks, another project day, I got to put my computer skills to use and even get a little creative. A good day! Hope you’re having a good Lord’s day!
I so miss sharing in the Lord’s Supper . In our church it’s been almost a year.
Thank you for sha tu no this encouraging message .
Thank you Crissy for sharing this; it sounds like from many comments on here that many are in the same boat! I imagine your church is meeting but communion is a pause at the moment because of COVID? Or has the situation with church attendance change in Australia? So much developments around the world, hard to keep up!
I just noticed that my comment was changed to sha tu no instead of “sharing”🙄
Our Church is meeting with some minor restrictions, but no Lord’s Supper or congregational singing yet.
I am going to aim to do that this upcoming Sunday! Grateful for His presence when the Supper is taken
