I was recently interviewed for Rooted In Revelation Podcast (Facebook page here). It is a podcast that touch on theology, apologetics and Christian living. This is hosted by Nate Burns.
What was the topic? Prayer!
We discussed our background to some questions about our strengths, weaknesses and when we pray the most. I personally felt the second half of the discussion picked up more steam and was practical. Still the first half you get to know Nate, his brother and myself.
You can listen to it through Spotify, Anchor.fm or Breaker.
Let us know your thoughts!
Thank you for this. Blessings to you and your family!
Thank you Kent! I’ll be visiting your page sometime today! I’m excited for the Ecclesiastes series! Hope you are doing well?
You’re welcome, Jim! Thank you too. Denver, CA has a fine weather a week ago and looking at its temperature now (in Celsius), it is half of the temp outside the house right now. Oh, you’ve ask that several times these days alone.
Thanks for the link. I look forward to listening to it.
Blessings and prayers for your travels.
Jimmy,
I’m a couple of decades older than you but found your wise discussion on prayer to be so meaningful experientially. I took notes while listening and I encourage everyone who listens to do so as well, as rich with practical advice as it is. I’m so glad I spent time this morning listening.
My notes in rough form look like this:
“I actually think the act of prayer presupposes God’s sovereignty”
A means of God fulfilling his decrees
God’s providence working through our lives in the tough seasons and the good seasons of prayer
Don’t idolize certain spiritual high points in our life. Continue to grow.
Confession is the gateway to all prayers (1John 1:9): confession, adoration, thanksgiving, supplication
Homolego in Greek: “confess” you say the same thing that God says (lego- I say)
Sin of anxiety: Matt. 6 read through it in dealing with worrying
Practical advice:
Reading the word of God/Devotion
Deliberately, intentionally pray
Whole life preach the gospel to yourself
Read about prayer: Spurgeon, effective prayer, and secret power of prayer; Sproul, Does prayer change things? (Free on kindle); resources on Monergism website
D.A. Carson, a call to spiritual reformation
Never forget the ordinary grace of church, prayer meeting
May God continue to bless you and your family and your ministry for the glory of His Name!
pax,
dora
Sister thank you for this note! I said a lot of things at the stir of the moment and wanted to look back and have it in writing and it seems you shared some of the highlights! Thank you!!! Doxa I appreciate your comment!
Thank you for this note!
May it be a blessing sister!
Thanks Jim, Iwill listen to this later.
Appreciate it! This was an interview from a few weeks back but scheduled it while I’m on the road and have limited internet as I drive rural areas. May the Lord bless your day!
Amen and Amen.
I’m on a road trip to help my sister move and not been online much the last few days…now in Colorado. How’s the weather in Louisiana??
Dry as of now.:)
Looking forward to listening to this on my commutes tomorrow! Hope you had a good Friday. Are you still on the road?
We arrived at our destination! Went to some museums! How did the shift went today???
Glad you’re fitting some enjoyment into the working trip. I was so glad when the shift ended yesterday (whine). I haven’t worked that physically hard at work in 25 years. I’m hoping there’s less “coal to shovel” today.
They should consider loading this podcast on Podbean too

Enjoyed hearing your testimony in the beginning.
This podcast was great, if for no other reason than to hear your voice. You gave me a lot to ponder regarding my prayer life.
