I was recently interviewed for Cave to the Cross Apologetics Show. It is a podcast that touch on theology, apologetics and Christian worldview. You can catch on Facebook, Twitter and Gab.
I’m interviewed by Patrick S, one of the host of the show.
What was the topic? Prayer!
Here’s the description of the show from the link to the episode’s page:
This week we welcome Pastor Jim Li onto the show for some prayer help. Pastor Li pastors in California but is very active in teaching in the Asian churches. As a result, his identity will be hidden today. And with Tony on vacation, you’re stuck looking at Patrick. Good thing we make an audio-only version of the show.
Patrick invited Pastor Jim on to discuss prayer. As Patrick struggles with prayer, Pastor Jim was gracious enough to sit down and have a conversation about how to have a conversation with God. What is prayer? What are the elements of a good prayer? And of course, some good book recommendations on the subject. We hope you are edified by this discussion.

Awesome to hear that brother! Hope you are doing well, how are you?
Jimmy, So thankful to God for your opportunities to share Biblical wisdom on prayer with the wider church. May He use them for His glory and the edification of His people! Hope you’re having a great week. 😀
pax,
dora
Grateful for the opportunity too! I pray that it will edify people to think and live out more biblically their prayer life.
Great podcast.
Blessings
Thanks Crissy!!! It was humbling to be invited to do this show.
God opens unexpected doors.
Pastor Slimjim, so good to hear your voice! Very edifying podcast, really appreciate the listed sequence of discussion. Each topic could have its own podcast, like ‘complaining’. I think God is clear, from the complaining Israelites in Numbers to the exhortation in Philippians – complaining dishonors God, esp amongst others.
(But, I think, complaining differs from lamenting.)
I note all this bc the Lord is calling me to overcome complaining, whether it’s re social issues or something my husband does. Otherwise, there’s no way to “shine like a star in the universe”!
I agree, “the word of God is the greatest catalyst for prayer”. That stirs my heart towards the word even more. And you’re so right about prayer meetings! The backbone of the church.
I’ll look into some of your noted resources too.
Thank you again Pastor, from your NY prayer partner!
Lisa wow you really listened well with this and took notes! Been really convicted about complaining lately myself and was edified to think of Christ not complaining during His ministry and His joy of pleasing the Father. Thanks for being my NY prayer partner Lisa! That means a lot!!!!
😃
Oh good. Saving this for later.
Aww thanks Beverly. I just prayed again for your prayer request you shared last time.
Looking forward to listening to this
I am also looking forward to listening to this. Prayer is near and dear to my heart! How are things going with your folks? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Aww. Thanks sister Mandy! Things with my folks is still in the air looking for a place; today they are going to take a break and be with my sister for two days in San Diego; this is the sister who is visiting from Germany. I think it will be a good break for them; tomorrow I’ll be back to helping my parents out with things. How is your day so far Mandy? I shared your blog post on Psalm 119 yesterday with Chris, Huy and Leaann yesterday by the way when Chris asked me a question about statutes!
Glad to hear about your parents being with your sister, praying for their time together! Wow, thanks for sharing my blog that’s really kind of you and I’m encouraged by Chris!!! My day is really good! How’s your day and when do you see the dentist next?!
Listened to this while paint prepping this morning. Thanks, brother! Good exhortation on praying to God. Maybe we Christians tend to think of prayer as some elevated mystical exercise that only the “most pious” can practice when it’s talking to our Father on a personal level (without ever forgetting that He is Holy and Almighty God!
Wow awesome that you got to listen to this while prepping to paint! Hope it was helpful! How much progress were you able to make today with this painting project? I imagine its all prep and not painting yet, if I can think of times I had to paint, it can take a long time! Man I’m recharged from yesterday just going slow with no journey through a garden, long walks, etc. Took a break from heavy reading too! I needed it. How goes your day?
I’m painting the trim which is very tedious and slow-going. I did about a third today and will do the other two-thirds tomorrow and Thursday if the weather cooperates. Next week I’ll paint the shingles with a roller. That goes quickly. Will take only one day.
Hot and humid in ROC, 90F, which is why I limited the painting. We then took a short trip to a historic site on the Erie Canal which I’ll write about soon.
Glad you’re getting some R&R. I’m beat after the above and don’t feel like doing much.
I enjoyed this discussion, Pastor Jim. Thank you for taking the time to share. My prayer life has been very much on my mind lately.
Thank you for listening to this; Seem providential you are also thinking about prayer life lately (same here)!
You’re welcome, Pastor Jim. It was well worth my time.
There are so many people who need prayer these days. I guess there always has been but as I get older I am more aware of the needs of others. I find myself thanking God for things I used to take for granted. I am also more aware of my need for God’s grace and mercy these days.
It is amazing that we can talk to our Creator, the God of the Universe. I’d give my lifetime prayer life a F+ if I had to give it a grade. Lately, I have been enjoying prayer much more than in the past.
Nice. Thank you.
You’re welcome! May we be praying to the Lord, what a privilege!
Amen.:)
Rare is an apologetics podcast that talk about prayer
