For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for someone going off to college next school year.
A few months ago I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Pray for someone’s decision of which college to attend next school year” and “This Sunday at Church: Encourage those who are graduating from schools.” Now that its August its time to pray for those in your church who would this month or next month be heading off to a college. Especially for those who are going to start college this school year.
Pray for the student to be grounded in Christ. For some church kids growing up and going to go off to college they might not be saved; for me I believe that Sunday preaching should talk about the Gospel and the need to trust in the Gospel enough that I should not have no problem to pray for the students’ salvation if they aren’t saved yet (as in they profess they aren’t saved or not saved yet).
For the believers or those that profess faith I pray that their faith be strong to still follow Christ and grow in Christ when they go off to the universities.
Of course I pray for a students’ academic.
I am a pastor of a small church; and while technically I’m no longer the youth pastor since I’m the associate pastor and there’s no youth pastor in the congregation I function practically as the youth pastor while overseeing the adults too. I actually enjoy being a pastor of a multigenerational congregation. I look forward to pray for those who are going off to college and also talking to them to be spiritually prepared for college; that will be next week’s Sunday post of what to do at church. Stay tune! But to pave the way to talk to someone sometimes we got to pray with them first!

Hard to believe it is that time of year already. Definitely praying. Blessings for your ministry today.
Indeed time flies! Thanks for the blessing for today, hope you have a blessed Lord’s Day too Michael!!!!
Reblogged this on a simple man of God and commented:
I am the youth pastor who also helps oversee adults (and kids, and including leading a Bible study this fall.) I personally know about 20 teens heading off to college in the coming weeks. They need prayer more than ever.

Praying! So important for kids to stay grounded. My brother is a living example of this. Heartbreaking! Love and Sunday blessings to you and the fam!
Mandy I just prayed for your brother. This lead me to be thankful for all your many prayers and prayer requests for our youth group (and also showing love to those who are going to college!). God bless you. How is your Sunday so far?
It’s a good day. How was church today? Will you be able to get rest tomorrow?!
This is very timely! My youngest daughter just loaded up her car and left to begin her sophomore year a few minutes ago. J.
J I just prayed for her semester; must not be easy to have the kids go off to college! Fortunately I have some time still…
Thank you for your prayers. Yes, you have a lot of landmark days down the road for your beautiful family! J.
Amen.
Good exhortation! College can be a perilous time for students from Christian families. The Gospel they have been taught will be attacked and ridiculed by their teachers and fellow students.
Indeed you are correct; how we need to pray and disciple our youth before they go off to college! How was Sunday???
Yesterday was pretty good, thanks! I purposely slowed down and paced myself (although I was still the hardest worker in the crew).
How was your Sunday?
Amen and thank you!
Thank you for being a kind, considerate and praying pastor who cares for our young people. The Lord will bless you richly.
Praying for them… Amen🙏
Timely reminder for prayer. While I have no grandchildren in college at the moment, a young man will graduate this spring with a world waiting for him.
Amén ! We need to pray for our youth .
Indeed we must! Praying for you all in your country too!
You are a blessing pastor Jim.
One very good idea
