For this Sunday here’s what you can do:Encourage a mom with an infant.
Our church has some members who have newborns this past year and more so the last few months. That’s incredible for us, a small church. I rejoice as a pastor, and a church member and as a brother in Christ and as a friend.
Its not easy to go to church with a newborn.
If you see a mom with a newborn this morning at church encourage them.
Let them know you are glad to see them.
We can be so quick to see and notice the baby first; myself included. But make sure you care for the mom. If you are at lost with words, ask how are you and mean it. Then listen.
Sometimes its hard to hear sermons for new moms with the duties of caring for a newborn. They come in and out. They are at the nursery. They are nursing, changing diapers, hoping their babies sleep and making sure their babies don’t wake up.
Sometimes at church I also ask to hold the new babies for a bit for the mom to be free for a few minutes. Key word is ask, each mom is different and each child is different and also each circumstance each Sunday is different. Or I ask what can we help to purchase for them (new diapers are expensive! Food? Baby clothes for next size?). Our church is small and have many weaknesses; but one thing I’m always impressed is how the members organize meal train for the first month of new moms with newborns.
I’ve attached a link from past studies I have for new moms just to help prime the pump to think about ways to encourage new moms. Its not on encouraging mom per se but it gives perspective of what new moms go through (a little window): Preparing for Motherhood Part 2: The First Year

Good exhortation! Being the mother of a newborn is such hard work and can seem overwhelming.
Indeed! Thanks for commenting; does today look like a regular Sunday or you be going slow and playing it safe?
Thanks. Another sick day. I’m making progress but still nowhere near 100%. The thought of doing that very physical work for 12 hours makes it a no-brainer.
Thanks for the encouragement. What a wonderful way to serve our moms in our churches. Blessings.
Good encouragement!!!!!
Thanks! How is your weekend going so far?
It’s a good weekend! Prayed for your sermon earlier! How’s your weekend, any plans for your off day tomorrow?!

Amen. They need it. Sometimes it gets hectic.
Indeed Maw Maw! I imagine you know how it’s like too as a mom and grandma!
I do but back then I had enough energy.
Awesome post Pastor Jim! Our young mothers need all of the encouragement, prayer, and kindness we can gather.
Such an encouraging post.
