For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Check up on how someone new at college is doing spiritually.
A few months ago I wrote “This Sunday at Church: Pray for someone’s decision of which college to attend next school year” and “This Sunday at Church: Encourage those who are graduating from schools.” Now that it is October it might be a good idea to check up on how someone new at college is doing spiritually.
You can do this by calling the person this Lord’s Day. Ask how they are doing.
Or you can text, email and message them today about meeting up with them this upcoming week to see how they are.
For me personally I’m planning to visit one of my church youth who is now at a university in the dorms. It is his 5th week into a 10 week quarter. He’s halfway through. I plan to visit him in his college dorm area and take him out for dinner to talk; but also to see how his living situation is and just to give physical presence even as I minister to him. Sure its an extra drive in LA traffic; sure gas is expensive with our economy and inflation; but its worth it doing ministry!
Again check up on how someone new at college is doing spiritually. Maybe you can’t do something that much. Simply call and ask how are they doing goes a long way; or even ask them how you can pray for them! Also if you talked to them before about going to college you can ask them if they see some of the warnings you gave and also some of the things you talked about (self-discipline, sexual sins and temptation, loneliness, identity crisis, peer pressure, worldliness, crazy ideology, financial challenges, dangers of cults, lack of spiritual devotions, etc).

This is what love is. 🙏❤️
Aww amen! Thanks for saying that, appreciated you reading and sharing your comment! Wow how did you find my post sister?
Excellent brother. It is always a great thing to check in on the people we care about. College students are so vulnerable to have their faith challenged.
Blessings.
I appreciate your example in ministry and commitment to your flock. I am sure this young person will be encouraged by your visit.
Thanks for your kind words! Anything I can pray for you for this Lord’s day brother?
A praise! I believe we have found our next church home. Looking forward to serving my brothers and sisters 😊

This might surprise some of you, but this here youth pastor (me) thinks about this stuff regularly, especially now that I am working at a university. 😉
College is a unique challenge, even at a Christian university, so our students need all the prayer they can get, even and especially before leaving.

Good exhortation! The college campus is a snake pit of temptation and bad information for a young believer. I pray the student is greatly encouraged by your visit.
Thanks for your prayers! I just prayed for your shift today. How is that going so far brother? I know it is probably a lot of work given Friday….
RE: shift
Thanks, brother! I actually had some of the young guys pull some work orders yesterday and this morning because I wanted to make sure they all got done after the Friday interruption. That was a huge help. I was done with all of my work around 1:00. That’s only happened a few times in my ten months here.
How is your Sunday going?
Great encouragement! I have praying for this person that you have mentioned. I have been thinking of sending said person a card of encouragement and was wondering if I could send it to you or if y’all could email me the address? Those Bridges books should be at your place on Tuesday. Praying for church and outreach!
Let me ask for his address!!! Once I have it I will email you!! Thanks for your prayers!!! How is your day going so far, do kids show up around your neighborhood for tonight?? Or weather isn’t friendly??? Thanks for your prayers I’m making a PowerPoint for our evangelism today and also the members are setting up things and decorations for tonight! So thanks!!!
There are many kids around here. We had a prayer meeting at Church where we discussed the Reformation and then did like an ACTS prayer for each of the Five Solas. It was really beautiful. I will email you our prayer card, I think it is really helpful for people who may not be familiar with the Solas and how to pray.
Thoughtful task blessed with God’s love. While I don’t know anyone in college at the moment, I can pray for these students in general.

This is such a wonderful thing to do. I am sure they will appreciate it. College can be a lonely place. Have a great day.
Indeed! I imagine as moms of college kids and graduate you see this from another important perspective of why this is important!
Yes, indeed. Glad that you are pointing out the importance of calling praying for our college kids.
You put much thought into your sermons and comprehensive, detailed information into your writings. A marvelous service you do for others in helping lead them to Jesus Christ through The Holy Spirit. 🙏
Aww thanks for your kind words! I try, and hopefully the Lord uses it both offline and online! HOpe your Tuesday is going well so far??
Thanks for this, Jim! I reeeeeally lost a lot of spiritual ground my last two years of college.
Your comment is much needed here to let myself and others know how important this outreach is to our college student
🙂
Not a bad idea. Next Sunday!
