Here’s this year’s recommendations:
Learning Presuppositional Apologetics
The Impossibility of the Contrary by Greg Bahnsen
Description: This book came out this year and is by Greg Bahnsen, who is my favorite Christian apologist who sadly died very young. This is the apologetics book I most recommend that I read this year. This is the final trilogy that American Vision published based upon Bahnsen’s lectures to college students. Its refreshing to read something from Bahnsen. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: American Vision
By What Standard? An Analysis of the Philosophy of Cornelius Van Til
Description: This is one of the early introductory books on Van Til’s apologetics, originally written in 1958! After finishing reading it I think it is still a good intro though the standard of good introduction to Presuppositional Apologetics have been raised with authors like Greg Bahnsen, Jason Lisle, etc. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Amazon
Applying Presuppositional Apologetics’ Critiques
Review: Jacques Derrida by Christopher Watkin
Description: Some of the crazy ideologies of our time have given credit to the philosophy of French philosopher Jackques Derrida. This is a good example of Christian scholarship with concerns to accurately protraying someone’s worldview and bringing a biblical and philosophical critique. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Westminster | Amazon
Engaging Hinduism : Rethinking Christian Apologetics in India
Description: If you hear someone raise up the question “Presuppositional Apologetics is great to tackle atheism, but what about religions like Hinduism?” then this book answer that. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Amazon
Adjacent Topic
The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self
Description: Not Presuppositional Apologetics per se but this is probably one of the most important book for our post 2020 world. Reading this I felt it was like Francis Schaeffer’s How Then Shall we live? but with more academic rigor and extensive footnotes. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Westminster |Amazon
Gift Merchandise
(Note: This year I added this section since I realize there are some who might be looking for gifts for someone that is into Presuppositional Apologetics and the person have read a lot of books already and it might be safer to gift them merchandise)
Presup Shark Polo Shirt
Description: Enjoyed this shirt a lot. My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Powerful Christian
Transcendental Argument for God Mug
Description: Enjoyed this mug. My kids too! My Review can be found by clicking HERE.
Purchase: Powerful Christian
Wow! What a wonderful resource. Thanks so very much.
Blessings.
You are welcome! How was your Thanksgiving yesterday???
It was a wonderful day. We had lunch at my brother-in-law’s family. Beautiful day.
Blessings!
Thanks for this listing. I’m grateful you’ve made me aware of the basics of presup apologetics.
You are welcome!! I think the one I reviewed from Bahnsen is a good training tool! How is your day off going so far, I presume you are off today but work tomorrow?
Yup, we got today off as a holiday, but it’s back to work tomorrow.
How was your Thanksgiving dinner? I woke up this morning with a turkey hangover, but leafblowed the backyard and dragged 4 tarps to the curb.
What are you up to today?
I have read some of the Great Thinkers series and the one on Immanuel Kant is really good
I want to read that one too! The author for Kant also wrote the volume for Hegel and I want to read both!
I will enjoy your reviews when you post them in RPA
Thanks for letting me know about that book on Kant
Thanks for the recommendations, Jimmy. :>)
You’re welcome!!! Hope your Friday after Thanksgiving is going well??
🙏🙂🧡Appreciate your prayers as I get back on a medication. Praise to God for His providence.
Thanks for these suggestions, Jim! I need to get back in the habit of reading!
Brother I’m just glad your energy level is back and you are with us rolling out art work!! That can be my thanksgiving yeah? 😃
Yeah! And mine too, Jim! Thanks for reminding me. 😀
Impressive list of books
R. J. Rushdoony’s “By What Standard” interests me because I am not familiar with this author’s style and writing. I found a copy on internet archive that one can borrow for short periods of time. Thank you for pointing this out!
Frank your desire to learn is quite encouraging. I hope and pray you have a blessed weekend!
I just read reference to Derrida the other day…
That’s a cool shirt
Yeah! The artist is a friend and I recommend his shop for other materials and art work too!
Going to give his site a look

Whew! I’m glad Trueman’s book made it on your list since I have it and now don’t have to put it on Santa’s list. His wallet is a little light already, lol. Actually I’m half-way through the book and I agree with you on which sections are the strongest so far. His ecumenical frame of mind I have yet to get to but thanks for the ⚠️ so I won’t get caught off guard. I want to get to the Bahnsen book eventually too. Helpful recommendations, thank you. 🙏😀
Awesome that you are reading Carl Trueman’s book! Its so encouraging to know you are reading and also how much you know! Always love my Presbyterians online 😂. But seriously though it’s very encouraging!
Thank you, Jimmy. When I find a Baptist brother or sister who can tolerate my Presby-ness, I hold on to them with both arms! God be praised! 🤗🤗
Adding the impossibly of the contrary to my reading list! Thanks
Awesome to hear that! Did you read other books by Bahnsen? I might have asked that before just in case I didn’t remember…
It would be my first.
