For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the rising new leaders in your Church.
I thought about this today since we as a church will be voting for various things including new deacons. Its important churches have right leaders.
What does one pray about? Here’s some beginners’ list:
Pray for those rising in leadership or those who are new leaders to follow God first before all other things. Pray for them to not lose focus. Pray for them to love God before all things. Pray for them to not confuse being busy with church is the same thing as being spiritually strong with God. Pray for their devotional life and love for Christ would increase! Pray for them to be a good example! Pray for them to resist the temptation of Satan whether it be with pride, materialism or sex. Pray for them to do a good job. Pray what they do would advance the Gospel. Pray for God to be glorified! IN all things pray!
Pray quietly and alone; pray for them one on one; pray for them in prayer meeting and pray for them with fellow members of the church and also believers who are your friends outside your church. In all things pray!
Thanks for the great suggestion for this Sunday. Our church is also looking for some new deacons so very timely.
Blessings.

This prayer is greatly needed.
You are right it is much needed; blessings to you hope your Lord’s Day goes well

Good way of putting that: “Pray for them to not confuse being busy with church is the same thing as being spiritually strong with God.”
I like how one should prayer for them specifically, one on one.
Thanks for reading this. So much ways we can pray for our new or rising leaders; and I say they and the church needs it too
In all things, pray! Amen.
Amen hope your Lord’s day is going well
Blessed suggestion Pastor Jim. I especially like how you framed different petitions for these prayers, especially in keeping God front and center in the lives of these leaders.
Thank you for all the good comments! Yes praying for the leaders matter! I need to pray for this more for our leaders. Seems this is a constant lesson: pray!
You are right about prayer being a constant lesson. We have a great example to follow in Jesus. Despite the world’s darkness swirling around us, prayer shares our Savior’s light.
This was convicting, Jim. I do a lot of praying for missions and ministries all over the world, but I rarely pray for the leaders in my own church! I will be doing that tonight. 😉
Wow encouraging to hear you praying tonight for your church leaders and I imagine they welcome that; I know I certainly welcome that from my congregation and those outside my congregation
We also voted yesterday so this was timely. Praying you get rest today!
Thanks for this good exhortation. I remember being called on the phone on a Sunday afternoon by our old IFB pastor 35 years ago. He asked if I wanted to be a deacon. I was taken aback and said I would pray with my wife and call back with an answer. There was no church vote. I said yes and quickly learned that the deacons were largely ornamental. We had no assigned tasks except for Amen-ing the authoritarian pastor’s ideas at the monthly meeting.
Wow that is crazy. That’s rather extreme. Then there is the other extreme where deacons are all participating but fighting over every decision and things that don’t matter as much…man the right kind of leadership matters!!! How was your Sunday?
RE: Sunday
Thanks, the entire weekend was a light workload, especially yesterday. I even completed a few orders for the weekday crew ahead of schedule, something I never do. I appreciated the light workload. Had to work on the leaves for 4 hours today so it’s couch duty from now until lights out.
How was your Sunday and what’s on the agenda for rest day? Any rest?
That second to last paragraph has a lot on how to pray for church leaders even the seasoned ones
Amen, Jim. Amen.
Yes church leaders are normal people who are imperfect like the all of us.
We need to keep an eye open
